    Notes:

Bonnie Lea Ann Havel was born to Willard and Arlene Slepicka Havel on October 12, 1953, in York, Nebraska. She received the sacraments of baptism and confirmation on May 7, 2016. Bonnie passed away at Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln on May 10, 2016, at the age of 62 years.

Bonnie grew up on the family farm near Milligan. Willard and Arlene loved to listen to Czech polka music and this love of music was passed on to Bonnie. She had her own collection of favorite polka albums.

In her early years, Bonnie attended the Pleasant Day School for handicapped children in Geneva. For many years she has lived in a group home with her special friends and attended a daily workshop through Community Alternatives. At the Workshop, Bonnie had jobs and participated in other activities. In the past, she enjoyed bowling in the Special Olympic Games.

The challenge of Down Syndrome did not keep Bonnie from enjoying the activities of Friendship Club. She liked going to the movies, holiday parties, hayrack rides, arts and crafts. She enjoyed dancing especially the polka. This past Christmas she had fun dancing with her great nieces and nephews during the Molly B TV polka show. She also loved pets and going to the pet store.

Bonnie had a teasing sense of humor. Sometimes she would walk by and untie your shoe, tap you on the head or nose and then give you a hug. It was always good to see her give you a thumbs up or her little hand wave. And, we will all remember how much she loved her coffee and pop.

Bonnie touched many lives during her lifetime. She will be sadly missed by not only the Havel Family, but by her special family of dear housemates, friends and care givers.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Willard and Arlene.

She is survived by her brother Sherm and wife Joann, nephews Paul (Amy), Dean, Jeff, Steve (Ashley) four great nieces Zoey, Chloe, Kora and Laney, one great nephew Hayden Havel, aunts Dorothy Stych and Evalyn Slepicka and cousins.

Private Family Funeral service for Bonnie will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 13, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic in Lincoln, Nebraska with Fr. Kenneth Borowiak officiating.
