    Nacogdoches - Services for J.C. Chance, 82, of Nacogdoches, were held Tuesday, Feb. 24 in the Family Funeral Care Chapel with burial in the Fielder Cemetery.

    Mr. Chance was born May 8, 1921 in San Augustine County the son of Maggie Mae (Sturrock) and James Eli Chance and died Friday, Feb 20 in a Nacogdoches nursing facility.

    Mr. Chance graduated from Nacogdoches High School in 1939. He proudly served his country by serving three years in the United States Navy during World War II and he was honorably discharged on Nov. 15, 1945. He begun working for a major tire company in September 1947 and stayed with the tire industry as a truck tire salesman until 1999. He was born the second time on Jan. 12, 1969 when he became a Christian and a member of Garden Oaks Church of Christ. He continued serving the Lord throughout his life.

    Mr. Chance was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Charlene Chance; grandson, Scott Gamel; and nine siblings.
