Additionally, Murdoch's half-brother, the only son of Norman Martin by his second wife, Eleanor Chapman, was Edwin Martin. Edwin married Mary Virginia "Jennie" McLemore of Lauderdale County, Mississippi (a daughter of Caleb Hill McLemore). Murdoch's wife, Louisa McLemore was a first cousin of Caleb Hill McLemore.

    Sometime after 1900, the granddaughter of his wife's first cousin, Bama Matilda Grantham (a daughter of Agnes McLemore Grantham of Copiah County, MS) would marry Joseph Edgar Martin, also of Copiah County.
