    Onie Mae Robbins

    Onie Mae Robbins, 90, who lived on Barber Street in Hemphill, died at 10:45 Tuesday, April 11, 1995, at Hemphill Care Center.

    Born Aug. 30, 1904, in Milam as a daughter of the late Walter and Mae (White) Patterson, she was a lifelong resident of Sabine County. Mrs. Robbins was a member of the First Baptist Church and a homemaker.

    She is survived by a son, W. L. "Buster" Robbins of Hemphill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Robbins.

    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. W. Clarence Howell officiating. Interment followed at Hemphill City Cemetery.

    Pallbearers: Billy Cannon, Billy Speights, Bill Barcheers, Buford Hughes, Clement McDaniel, and Eugene Procella.

    Era Mae Robbins Smith, 92, passed away peacefully on Aug. 8, 2014, at her home in Boerne surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 3, 1922, in Hemphill to Era Inez Patterson Robbins and Henry Clyde Robbins, Sr.

    She is preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Henry Clyde "Sonny" Robbins, Jr.

    Era Mae was orphaned at age 2 and spent her early years in three different households, lovingly cared for by her aunts. She was nicknamed "Sister" by her cousins, with whom she was raised as a sister, and was known throughout her childhood in East Texas by that name. In 1938, at the age of 16, she married her high school sweetheart, Hugh Love Smith, and they moved to Corpus Christi where they resided until they relocated to Boerne in 2010.

    Era Mae's life was rich in activities surrounding her family, her friends, and her faith. She loved her Lord and Savior, and her every action bore witness to that love, the unselfish support for her husband, the leadership and tenacity in guiding the lives of her children as they grew, and the tender compassion she showed for others.

    As a member of First Baptist Church of Corpus Christi, Era Mae participated and held leadership positions in numerous study, visitation, and outreach ministries. She served on the building committee for the church's chapel and on the leadership development committee. She was a licensed Real Estate Broker and member of the Corpus Christi Board of Realtors, an award-winning photographer, a talented seamstress, cook, decorator and dancer. She spent countless hours teaching her children how to be self-sufficient, and she enthusiastically supported their activities in church, school and scouting.

    Era Mae is survived by her devoted husband of 76 years, Hugh Love Smith, Sr.; son, Hugh Love "Clipper" Smith, Jr. (Nona) of Vicksburg, MS; daughter, Sylvia Ann Smith Griffin (Paul) of Boerne; grandchildren, Stephen Randall Smith (Sherri) of Mathis, James Kelly Smith, Abney Gail Smith and Robin Dean Smith of Vicksburg, MS, Christopher Clark Griffin (Ashleigh) of Austin, and Cynthia Griffin Carr (Brian) of Pleasanton; plus eight great-grandchildren upon whom she loved to dote; cousins, Charlotte King Walker of Lufkin and Doris Jean Doiron of Pasadena, and numerous nieces, nephews and caring friends. She is also survived by the loving extended family of Peggy and Ronnie Schlottman of Center Point.

    Mrs. Inez Sparks was born January 31, 1926 in Hemphill, Texas, to Bronson and Marie (Patterson) King. She entered into rest on March 30, 2011 in a Tyler Hospital.

    She was retired from San Augustine ISD where she had worked for many years as a teachers aid. She was a member of the Bridge Club and a member of First United Methodist Church in San Augustine.

    She is survived by her son H.B. Sparks and his wife Charlotte of Center; daughter Debra Adkins of Tenaha; grandchildren Ashley Golden and D.D., Hillary Sparks, Tanya Byley, Clifton Byley and Amanda, Winter Ogeda, Tiffany Anderson, Timothy; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Charlotte Walker and Trent of Lufkin; sisters-in-law Betty Jean Cartwright, Frances Maxwell, Claudine Selden, Agnes Sparks; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents; husband Hugh Sparks.

    Funeral services will be Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. in Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Sara Barbaree and Bro. Jim Moss officiating and burial in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday April 2, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home.

    Anna married Hugh Bernice Sparks, Sr. before 1952. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. "Trent" Walker and her sister, Inez King Sparks.

    Graveside services were held at 2:00PM, Sunday, October, 12, 2014, in the Hemphill Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.

    "Our family will be forever grateful for the loving care given our Granny at the Lottie Temple Unit of Pinecrest over these last years. Their kindness, compassion and love sustained our entire family through this terrible journey named Alzheimer's."

    Could she have married Ben Smith Jr. and been the mother of Susan Paige Smith Padgett (dec 1947-Feb 2013).

    Susan Paige Padgett, 65, died in Lufkin Memorial Hospital, February 9, 2013. She was born to Ben Smith Jr. and Charlotte King, December 12, 1947. Raised in Pineland she had lived in Lufkin for 37 years.

    Susan was survived by her husband, Bryan Padgett, of Lufkin; her son, Kevin Woods of Bronson; her daughter, Kim Woods of Lufkin; one brother, Ben Smith of Jasper; one sister Libi Smith of Dallas; and three grandchildren, Aaron Woods, Sydney Woods, and Kelsey Woods.

    She was preceded in death by her brother Terry Smith and her sister Cindy Smith.

    Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday evening, February 10, 2013, in the Starr Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 11, 2013, at Starr Funeral home Chapel, with gravesides services to follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in San Augustine Texas.
