    Funeral Services for Clinton will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Graveside services will follow the funeral at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, rural McCool Junction.

    Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Memorials are directed to the family.

    Clinton Melvin Volkmer, passed into eternity on Sunday February 19, 2012 at the Haven Home in Kenesaw NE at the age of 80 years.

    Clinton was born on April 4, 1931 on a farm near Shickley Nebraska to Adolph and Leona (Schmock) Volkmer. He was a 1948 graduate of Geneva High School. In 1952, Clint was drafted into the US Army where he served his country stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. After his discharge from the Army in 1954 he returned to Nebraska. On August 22, 1955 he married Ruby Jirkovsky and to this union came five children.

    Clint farmed southeast of McCool Jct. for most of his life until 1984 at which time he retired from farming and went to work for the York County Rural Public Power. In May 1990 his wife of 34 years Ruby died of cancer. Clint continued to live on the farm and working in York until he fully retired in 1994. In 1995 he married Dee Rosenberry and moved to Columbus NE.

    Clint enjoyed farming and the friendships that came along with living in that area for most of his life. He was proud of his time served in the Army. He enjoyed family gatherings, listening and watching Husker football on Saturdays and listening to his favorite polkas on Sunday. During his retirement he enjoyed visits with family, bowling, fishing, playing cards, and tending to the yard and landscaping. He will be greatly missed by all!

    Clint is survived by his wife Dee of Columbus NE and his five children and their spouses: Terry Volkmer and wife Vicky of Bellevue WA, Janet Radcliff and husband Rex of Beaver Crossing NE, Kelly Smith and husband Doug of York NE, Doug Volkmer and wife Sue of Lincoln NE, and Laurie Hillmer of York NE. Clinton is survived by 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren as well as his sister Pat Bredenkamp of York NE. Also survived by sister-in-laws, Vivian Volkmer of Geneva NE, Phyllis Volkmer of Beatrice NE, and brother-in-law Kenneth Arp of Lexington NE.

    He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, brothers Dallas, Gilbert and Duane and by his sister Ramona.
