    Memorial services for Charles L. Walker, 86, of Diboll will be held Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Henderson Chapel of First United Methodist Church of Lufkin with Reverend D. Nick Sholars officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

    Mr. Walker was born October 20, 1926 in Hemphill, Texas to the late Bessie (Stringer) and J.B. Walker, Sr., and died Friday, August 2, 2013 in a local hospital.

    Mr. Walker served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and retired from the Monsanto Chemical Corporation in Alvin, where he was a Chemist for 30 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hemphill.

    Dad loved well and was well loved. He will be greatly missed.

    Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Charlotte King Walker of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, An and Jack Sweeny of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Patty Walker of Alvin; he was lovingly "Bop" to his granddaughters and their spouses, Jennifer and Chris Hill and Sara and Charlie Hill and great-grandchildren Price, Walker, Lucy, Charlotte, Ella and Preston Hill; sister, Mary Francis "Fritz" Sedwick of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, J.B. "Jug" Walker, Clarence Walker, Harvel Walker and Hugh Walker.

    Charles married Charlotte "Babe" Jean King about 1951. Charlotte (daughter of Bronson Cooper King and Marie Patterson) was born on 25 Aug 1927 in Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas; died on 11 Oct 2014 in Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas; was buried in Hemphill City Cemetery, Hemphill, Sabine County, Texas.
