Nell Miriam Bragg

Funeral services for Nell Miriam Bragg, 69, of MIlam were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 1994, at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. T.A. Bledsoe officiating. Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery near Milam.

She died at 1 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at her residence.

Mrs. Bragg was born Oct. 11, 1924, as a daughter of the ladt Milam and Nola Ideal (Carpenter) Gilchriest. She had lived in Beaumount several years before returning to the Milam area earlier this year. Mrs. Bragg was a homemaker and member of Lamar Baptist Church.

Survivors: husband, Wilburn Bragg of Milam; two daughters, Sherry Ann Poindexter and Barbara Nell Bradford, both of Dallas, a son, Herman Wilbert Bragg of Milam; a sister, Grace Buckley of Beaumont; a brother, Omer Burl Gilchriest of Nederland; nine grandchildren; and a great-granchild.

Herman Wilbert Bragg, 70, died at home in Milam, January 3, 2012.

He was born in Milam on October 7, 1941 to Wilburn Bragg and Nell Gilchriest Bragg . He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and later became a teacher in the Beaumont area. He moved to Milam thirty years ago and taught in several schools in the area including Hemphill and Shelbyville.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Bragg of Milam; his three sons, William Herman "Sarg" Bragg and wife Kristy of Bronson, James Omer "Job" Bragg of Milam, and Milam Wilburn "Micah" Bragg of Lufkin; daughters, Noella Francine "Joy" Moss of Memphis, TN, Rosanna Sharon Bragg of Milam, and Kaytha Grace Bragg of Austin; sisters, Sherry Ann Poindexter of Camden, TN, and Barbara Nell Bradford of Maybank; and six grandchildren, Nathan, Evan, Miranda, Trystan, Abby, and Haven.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 7, at New Hope Baptist Church, north of Milam, with burial in New Hope Cemetery.
