Children were Susan 1859, Henrietta c1862, Cora c1864, Eliza c1867, Hilliard c1873, Emma c1875, and Simeon c1877.

    In a letter dated 22 October, 1994, Elizabeth Gill wrote:

    "My husband's grandmother was a McLemore. She had a brother, John T. born in 1846 in Texas. They lived in Timpson, Shelby Co. Her father was Adkin. This grandmother was widowed after the Civil War. I have a newspaper clipping stating that her husband, William H. DARNELL died in 1866. She had another child (of doubtful parentage) in 1873. Her obituary (1919) states explicitly that Mr. Darnell died in 1873. She later remarried a COOPER and died in Oklahoma."

    Diana Noel shows this second spouse as John COOPER, born 1837 in Texas.

    Research of my son-in-law's lineage leads to Mary A. McLemore, 7-23-1843 Shelby Co., TX, to 5-22-1919 Weatherford, Custer Co., OK.

    She is identified by records as a daughter of W. Adkin McLemore, c1806 GA to 2-16-1881 Shelby Co., TX, and Susan A. Brinson, c1817 GA to bef1870 Shelby Co., TX. She had 4 known siblings - Matthew William, James S., Elizabeth M. [???] and John T. McLemore.

    Family oral tradition and photographs identify Native American lineage in Mary and any help would be appreciated with McLemore family history to identify this line.

He was widowed at the time of his death, and his occupation was listed as Farmer. His son, Julian, was the attending physician. He was buried in Seymour?, Texas.

Nearest relative was Mrs. Nonie T. McLamore of 1705 Allen Ave Shreveport, the same address reported for James. He was 45 years old, and reported his date of birth as April 6, 1873. He was described as Tall, medium build, with brown eyes and black hair.

    Obituary from FindAGrave:


    Dr. Julian McLamore, 57, of Megargel, graduated from the University of Texas Medical school at Galveston in 1897, which was the second graduating class. in 1898, he practiced one year as a physician in the Spanish American War. Dr. McLamore moved to Round Timbers in Baylor County in 1900.

    In 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Stevens of Round Timbers. Two children were born to this union. His wife preceded him in death.

    In 1927, Dr. McLamore moved to Megargel. He was one of the oldest practicing physicians in this section of the country.

    Services were held at the home of Fred Kunkel of Megargel by the Presbyterian pastor at Seymour. He was laid to rest in the Seymour cemetery by the side of his wife.

    Survived by one son - John McLamore of Philadelphia, PA; one daughter - Miss Valerie McLamore, a teacher at Bomarton; one sister who lived at Timpson, Texas but was unable to attend the funeral. His son was unable to attend the funeral because of the distance.
