    Mrs. Evelyn L. (Birdwell) Samford, age 90, longtime resident of San Augustine, passed from this life late Thursday evening, May 30, 2013, in San Augustine, Texas.
    Evelyn was born to Velma (Crouch) and Archie Birdwell on January 11, 1923, in San Augustine, Texas. She worked as a bookkeeper, along with her husband, they owned and operated Western Auto, was a Charter member of the Daughters of the Repbublic of Texas and was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church in San Augustine.

    Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with interment following in the San Augustine City Cemetery in San Augustine. Dr. Bill Lanigan will officiate at the Funeral Service. Visitation will be Sunday evening, June 2, 2013, from the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas 75972.

    Those left to cherish her memory include: Her Husband; Charles Samford of San Augustine; Sons; David Samford of Nacogdoches, and John Samford of West Virginia; Grandchildren; Matthew Samford of Nacogdoches and Abigail Samford of Buffalo, New York; Sisters; Dois Leak of Kilgore and Betty Jo Bessonett of Tyler, along with several nieces and nephews.

    In lieu of flowers, at the family request, memorials should be made to the charity of your choice.
