Was he listed, in error, as Carolin, F, at the time of the 1860 census? Or was he missed entirely, or living elsewhere? Or, might the George Beard living with him at the time of the 1880 census not be the same George Beard that earlier lived in Newton County, Mississippi.

Family researchers in Sabine and San Augustine counties appear to think that Charles McKinney Beard and Benjamin Alexander Beard were indeed brothers, as the following postings to the following message board indicate:

My grandfather was Charles McKinney Beard born in 1846 Mississippi and I think Newton County. he married Jane Roberts of neshoba Co. in 1869. I am looking for his mother. His father was George R. Beard. I think that George R. Beard was married to a Martha Warren before he married Mary Ann Forbus Causey. If anyone has any information on either of these wivies will they please contact me. I think that Martha Warren was Charles "Mack" Beard's mother and that Mary Ann raised him. Mary Ann Forbus had been married to a Causey before she married George Beard and she had two daughters by the Causey maybe more children but I know of the two daughters. Thanks for any help. George Reed Beard was my great--great-grandfather. His son, Benjamin Alexander (brother to Charles McKinney) was my great-grandfather.
My mother was B.A.'s granddaughter. Her father was Sam Beard. She is Rosalie Octava Beard Burns.
I'm sorry that I can't help about George Reed's marriages. The records we have are confusing. We have that he married mary Ann Forbus first and then married a Miss Cossie.

There is a Texas Death cerificate on file for Mrs. Nancy Freances Cahal, wife of Reuben G. Cahal, who was born 8 Mar 1882 in San Augustine County and died 19 Nov 1932 in Houston, and was listed as a daughter of McKinney BEARD of Miss and a Miss Roberts.

Notes:

At the time of the 1920 Federal census, he was living in San Augustine, Texas. The two households following his listing were those of his younger brothers, Sam and Dorsey.

He and Bertha were shown as the parents of daughters Verdey (8), Thelma (4) and Belma (1 6/12).

Vonnie Baron Beard

Vonnie Baron Beard, 93, of Houston, formerly of Broaddus, died Saturday, March 5, 2011.
He was born March 6, 1917 in Broaddus to Sam C. Beard and Mary Ann Mundine.

He worked in real estate sales and was a member of Bellaire Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II. He was an Elder, Bellaire Church of Christ and Aggregate (40+ years) Alief Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Beard of Houston; son, Barry Beard and wife, Kay of Houston; grandson, Samuel Carter Beard of Houston; sister, Rosalie Octavia Beard Burns of Broaddus; and numerous nieces and nephews along with many brothers and sisters in Christ.
Graveside services were held in Broaddus Cemetery, Tuesday.

Services for Rosalie Octava Burns, 97, of Broaddus, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016, in Wyman Roberts Funeral Home with Arthur Moody officiating. Interment followed in the Broaddus Cemetery. Mrs. Burns was born January 9, 1919, in Broaddus, Texas, the daughter of Mary Ann (Mundine) and Sam C. Beard. She passed away Monday, April 18, 2016, at her residence in Broaddus. Mrs. Burns was a loving mother and grandmother. She was retired as a Home Center Manager for a grocery/drygoods store. Mrs. Burns was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Allen Neil and wife Billie of LaGrange; daughter, Glenda Minniece and husband John of Houston; grandchildren, Jimmy Akin, Patrick Akin and wife Glenna, Jennifer Akin and husband Russell Coonfield, Brent Burns, and Catherine Burns and husband Jim Riviera; great-grandchildren, Raul Hinojosa, Alyssa Calhoun and husband Jacob, Parker and Garrett Akin, Ronin Coonfield, Rachel Burns, and Jordan Burns; sisters-in-law, Peggy Squires Beard of Houston and Juanice Harvey Beard of Broaddus. In addition to her parents, seven brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Andrew Burns; daughter, Susan Burns Akin; great-granddaughter, Lindsey Hope Burns; granddaughters-in-law, Renee Akin and Barbara Burns. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Hospice in the Pines or the Broaddus Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral services under the direction of Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 618, San Augustine, Texas 75972.

Elva was a beautiful woman, who worked as a teacher, and later as an actress. She married late in life, and died of breast cancer the age of 36. Sheryl Falk recalls that her mother, Janet Elva Tisdale was named in honor of Elva, who had died shortly before her birth, or was near death. She was interred at a famous old mausoleum in St. Louis. She had been married to Al Schneider prior to her death.




(Research):Could she have been married more than once? The Texas Birth index indicates that an Elva Tisdale and Ray DODD were the parents of Elizabeth Ann DODD, born 2 July 1942 in Lee County, Texas.
