    L. J. Hogue

    L. J. Hogue, 79, died in his home Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Hogue was born in Center to Lydia DuBose and Johnny Hogue and lived his life in Hemphill. He was a retired self-employed plumber, a U. S. Air Force veteran, and a member of the Broaddus United Pentecostal Church.

    Hogue is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrtle Hogue of Hemphill; son, David Hogue of Hemphill; daughter, Debora and her husband, Kenneth Birdwell of Hemphill; sisters, Gladys Flowers of Groveton, Yvonne Attwood of Texas City, and Callie Mae and her husband George Brooks of LaMarque. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kevin and Katie Birdwell, Kim and Burl Tarver, and Kellie Birdwell; great-grandchild, Brandon Tarver, and a number of nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Bird.

    Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Nov. 7, in Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Bronson Cemetery in Bronson.

    Graduate

    Kevin Birdwell, son of Kenneth and Debbie Birdwell of San Augustine, graduated May 10 from the University of North Texas in Denton. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Biology. Kevin will begin teaching for the Denton Independent School district this fall.

    New Arrival

    Kenneth and Debbie Birdwell of San Augustine are very pleased to announce the birth of their first granddaughter, Genevieve Grace Birdwell. Genna's parents are Kevin and Katie Birdwell of Fort Worth. Genna was born May 9, 2012. She weighed in at 4 pounds, 11 ounces and measured 17 1/4 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Steve and Cindy Speiser of Allen. Paternal grandparents are Kenneth and Debbie Birdwell of San Augustine. Great grandparents are Myrtle Hogue of Sabine County and the late L. J. Hogue, Pauline Birdwell of San Augustine and the late Kennon Birdwell, and Phylis Spenser of Edmond, OK. Local Aunts are Kellie Birdwell and Kimberly Birdwell Tarver.

    Obituary

    Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 6, 2019, in the Attoyac Missionary Baptist Church, with Bro. Tim Swanson and Bro. Michael Dickerson officiating. Interment will be in the Attoyac Cemetery adjacent to the Church.


    Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, October 5, 2019, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas.


    Kim was born November 20, 1985, to Debbie (Hogue) Birdwell and Kenneth Birdwell in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was a graduate of West Sabine High School in Pineland, Texas. Further extending her education through Panola College obtaining her L.V.N. license, she was presently working as a charge nurse at Twin Lake Care Center in San Augustine where she so lovingly cared for her patients. She was considered one of the best all-around nurses and was a dear friend to all who knew her, she will be dearly missed.


    Kim was a great daughter to her beloved parents, granddaughter, a loving Momma to her beloved son Brandon, called "Lucille" to her beloved husband, Burl, a dear sister to Kevin and Kellie, a loving aunt to Genna and Toby, a wonderful niece, cousin, and a beloved cherished friend. One of her most pride and joy was her son, Brandon Keith, who was born to her and Burl Gene on May 11, 2004. Kim was of the Pentecostal faith, and dearly loved her Lord God and Saviour.


    Those who are left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Burl Tarver of San Augustine, her cherished son, Brandon Tarver of San Augustine; her loving parents, Kenneth and Debbie Birdwell of San Augustine; her loving sister, Kellie Wiggins and her husband, Matthew of Deridder, Louisiana; her loving brother, Kevin Birdwell and his wife, Katie of Centennial, Colorado; her loving nephew and niece, Toby and Genna Birdwell of Centennial, Colorado; a loving mother-in-law, Susan Everett of San Augustine; beloved grandmother, Myrtle Hogue of San Augustine/Hemphill; her beloved uncles, Marlon (Bubba) Birdwell of Pineland; Michael Birdwell of Hemphill; Doyle Birdwell of San Augustine, and David Hogue of San Augustine/Hemphill; her beloved grandfather-in-law, Rufus Everett of San Augustine.


    She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Kennon, and Pauline (Oliver) Birdwell, and L.J. Hogue; and her grandmother-in-law, Charlotte Everett.
