Evelyn Mae Skinner

Evelyn Mae Skinner, 91, of Nederland died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008.

Mrs. Skinner was born Feb. 1, 1917, in Bronson as a daughter of the late Cora and Allen J. Clark. She was a faithful member of Landmark United Pentecostal Church in Port Neches.

Survivors: sons, Jerry Skinner and wife, Paula, of Lumberton and Larry Skinner of Conroe; daughters, Mevelyn Manning of Nederland and Kay Sims and husband, Paul, of Houston; sister, Velma Whitehead of Groves; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Virgil "Ted" Skinner, and a son, Virgil Allen Skinner.

Funeral services were held Nov. 14, at Landmark United Pentecostal Church in Port Neches with Rev. James D. Lee officiating. Interment followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Groves.

Services were under the direction of Broussard's Mortuary in Nederland.

Evelyn married Virgil Lee "Ted" Skinner before 1935. Virgil was born on 10 Jun 1912 in Texas; died on 22 Nov 1999 in Jefferson County, Texas; was buried in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves, Jefferson County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Virgil, of Houston, was a 1953 graduate of Nederland High School and was a retired barber.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Lee Skinner.

Survivors include his daughters, Sherry Skinner and Kathy Davis, son, Virgil Allen Skinner, Jr., his children's mother, Bernadette Skinner, one grandson, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn Skinner, brothers, Jerry Skinner and Larry Skinner; sisters, Mevelyn Manning and Kay Sims.
