Heart Attack Fatal For Area Resident

Funeral services for William George McKenzie, 80, Elkland township farmer, were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Douglas Funeral Home. The Rev. S.R. Wurtz, pastor of the EUB Church, of which Mr. McKenzie was a member, officiated and burial was in Elkland Cemetery. Mr. McKenzie died at this home Thursday of a heart attack.

Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel McKenzie, he was born at Gagetown Sept. 16, 1881. He was married to Elizabeth BLADES. She died Jan. 16, 1934. In June 1939 he married Mrs. Alma Schenck, who survives him.

Other survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Marie) JONES of Decker; two grandsons; a great-grandchild; two stepchildren, Mrs. Jack ESAU of Cass City and Donald SCHENCK of Napolean, Mich,; six stepgrandchildren, and a brother, Robert McKenzie of New Haven, Mich.

William married Alma Louise Striffler about 1939. Alma (daughter of Solomon Striffler and Eva Catharina "Katie" Koepf) was born on 11 Mar 1893 in Cass City, Tuscola County, Michigan; died on 24 Jan 1966 in Elkton, Huron County, Michigan; was buried in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City, Tuscola County, Michigan. Marie E. Jones, 92, of Decker, died Monday, June 18, 2007 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Saginaw.

She was born Feb. 1, 1915 in Cass City, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Blades) McKenzie.

She married Albert "Ab" Jones Dec. 3, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio. He died April 12, 1999.

Jones worked for Walbro Manufacturing for about 15 years. She was a 4-H leader in Evergreen Township.

She is survived by her children: Gary (Doris) Jones of Cass City, and Richard (Gerry) Jones of Caro; 4 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 infant sons.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 21, at Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with the Rev. Ellen Burns of Shabbona United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City.

Memorials may be made to the Shabbona United Methodist Church.

Arrangements were made by Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City.
