Tatum Pioneer Passes Away at Home Monday

Perry T. Adams, 85, uncle of A.C. Holder of Lovington died at 9:45 a.m. Monday at his home in Tatum. Born July 18, 1878, Mr. Adams had been an early day cowboy and rancher.

In 1913 he along with his sister and brother-in-law drove a herd of cattle from Texas to what was then known as Redlands, New Mexico near Elida, moving into Elida in 1914.

In 1921 he left New Mexico for Arizona where he worked as a cowhand and miner.

Moving back to New Mexico in 1934, he took over a ranch east of Tatum which he worked until he retired in 1958.

Surviving are four nephews, three great nieces, three great nephews, four great great nieces and three great great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Methodist Church of Tatum with the Reverand Louis Crenshaw officiating.

Burial will be in the Tatum cemetery. Smity Yarbo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pall bearers will be four nephews, A.C. Holder of Lovington, Tom A. Holder and Phil Holder, both of Pecos, Texas, and O.J. Holder of Santa Fee, Allen Church and Frank Whitley of Tatum.

Final Rites Held Wednesday For Stella Holder
Funeral services were held at the Chapel of the Smith Yarbro Funeral Home for Mrs. Stella Adams Holder Wednesday, May 10, at 1:30 p.m. Claude A. Lortz, minister of the First Christian Church of Clovis, was in charge of the services. Mrs. Holder was born in Wise County, Texas, August 6, 1881. She passed away Tuesday, May 9, at 1 a.m. at her home in Lovington after a long illness. Her father was J. Davis Adams and her mother's maiden name was Jane Reynolds. She is survived by one brother Perry Adams of Tatum. She married T. E. Holder, who preceded her in death in June, 1949. Four sons were born to this union, all of whom are living. A. C. Holder of Lovington, Tom Holder, Pecos, Texas, O. J. Holder of Santa Fe and Bill Holder of Illinois. She is survived by six grandchildren. Mrs. Holder was a member of the First Christian Church and a member of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge. Active pallbearers were John Campbell, Charles Campbell, Wesley Allen, Jake Crow, Jake Lister and Woodrow Woods. Mrs. Lillie Campbell was in charge of the music for the services. The Rebekah Lodge members were flower girls, and the Eastern Star was in charge of a graveside service. Interment was in the Lovington Cemetery.

Word has been received here of the death of Bill Holder of Pecos, Texas, brother of A. C. Holder of Lovington. Graveside rites are planned Wednesday at 11 a.m. Texas time at the cemetery in Pecos, Texas. Pecos Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born May 31, 1917, he passed away March 11 at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque. A resident of Pecos, he had been engaged in oilfield work. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the North Africa, Sicily and Italy campaigns.

Sharon Iwanick is a volunteer for "On Eternal Patrol." It is a site that honors all WWII submariners. Last year she was contacted because of her genealogy interests. It was regarding a submariner. She was able to disprove it was her family, but got hooked on trying to find family of the submariners lost in WWII on the submarine USS WAHOO (SS-238) It was lost in Oct. 1943, in La Perouse Strait, Northern Japan. Sunk by a combination of air attack, shore batteries, and depth charging. Recently the Naval Dept. announced the submarine found, is the USS Wahoo. They are trying to locate family and friends of the submariner, to share the news and of the upcoming Memorial planned.

With tracking this family, I have come up with a bit of data on the family of Juano Rennels. Gleaning from your web-site, I see a couple other leads I will try to follow. I'm hoping you possibly might have more data, a relative or contact, regarding this line, to help our search. I will gladly share my findings with you, if wanted.

Reading the history books on the USS Wahoo, it appears Juano L. Rennels, married before one of his voyages and is unknown if he had children.

The memorial service for Doyle E. Rennels was held Wednesday, November 27, 1996 at 2 p.m. at the Park Street Church of Christ, Ashland. Greg Weston, minister of the Park Street Church of Christ will officate.

Private interment will be Sisklyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Doyle E. Rennels, 85, of Medford, Oregon, died Monday, November 25, 1996 at the Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford, Oregon.

Mr. Rennels was born October 11, 1911 in Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma to Alfred and Blanche Dunlap Rennels. In Hammon in December 1929 he married the former Alice Simmons, who preceded him in death on November 24, 1979. Mr. Rennels farmed in Oklahoma until moving to Medford in 1946. In 1951 he moved to Norwalk, California where he worked as a meat cutter in retail grocery until retirement in 1975, when he returned to live in Talent, Oregon. In 1990 he moved to Medford.

While living in California he was an elder at the South Whittier Church of Christ. He was a member of the Park Street Church of Christ in Ashland, and served as an elder there until 1979. He also was a member of the Amaigamated Meat Cutters Union of America.

Survivors include one son, Truman Rennels of Medford, Oregon; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wade and Alvin Rennels.

Funeral services for Alvin J. Rennels will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Chapel with Bro. Truman Teel officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home.

Alvin Jasper 'Mutt' Rennels was born May 3, 1914 in Colter to Alfred and Blanche (Dunlap) Rennels and died Saturday at the age of 82. He was married to Hazel Allison, July 27, 1927 in Los Angeles, California. They lived in the Colter community until March of 1994 when moving to Elk City. He was a lifetime farmer and cattleman, retiring some two years ago. He was a faithful member of the Westside Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel of the home; one son, Dick Rennels and his wife Linda of Canute; one daughter, Pat Massy and her husband Dale of Hammon; one brother, Doyle Rennels of Medford, Oregon; two sister-in-law, Gertie Rennels of Carpenter and Iona Allison of Elk City; one brother-in-law, Clint Allison of Elk City; four grandsons; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Wade.

Alvin married Hazel Beatrice Allison on 27 Jul 1937 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. Hazel was born on 24 Dec 1917 in Elk City, Beckham County, Oklahoma; died on 6 Dec 2003 in Beckham County, Oklahoma; was buried in Red Hill Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Funeral services for Wade Rennels will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 1991 at 2 p.m. in the A.G. Creach Hammon School Auditorium with Bro. O.B. Dunpal and Dick Rennels officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Martin Funeral Home. Wade Warren Rennels was born June 5, 1917 in Colter, Oklahoma and died late Sunday, March 31, 1991 at the age of 73. Wade was born in the Colter Community and has lived in the Colert-Carpenter Community all of his life. Wade was married to Gertie Mooney on March 24, 1940 at Carpenter in the Mooney family home. He worked in the family general store and the booster plant in Carpenter for 16 years. Wade was also a farmer and enjoyed driving a school bus for the Hammon School district for 25 years. Wade retired in 1988 but continued as a substitute driver. In January of 1990 he became ill and has been in ill health since. Wade was a member of the Colter Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Gertie of the home. Two sons; Ronnie and his wife Cindy of Clinton and Danny and his wife Debbie of Sentinel. Also two brothers; Doyle Rennels of Talent, Oregon and A.J. "Mutt" Rennels of Canute. Three grandchildren: Bradley Rennels and his family of Clinton, Pam Rennels Muncrief and her husband Rob of San Marcos, Texas and Ryan Dale Rennels of Sentinel. Also, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family requests that lasting memories of love be sent to the West Oklahoma Cancer Center of Elk City or the Red Hill Cemetery rust in care of the First Community Bank of Hammon or the Tipton's Orphans Home, Box 370, Tipton, OK 73570.
