    Mrs. Samuel Lenzner

    Mrs. Samuel Lenzner died at her home at 1226 Hubbard Avenue, Detroit, Sunday morning. Funeral services were held at the Hamilton Funeral Home in that city Tuesday morning by the Rev. Tracy Pullman and the remains were brought to Cass City where they lay in state at the MacPhail & Keehn Funeral Home for a short time before the burial service at Elkland Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Stanley P. Kirm of Cass City.

    Mamie Feuchtwanger, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Feuchtwanger, was born in Tallahassee, Florida, on December 12, 1862. She came with her parents from Saginaw to Cass City in 1876 and taught in the rural schools of Greenleaf township before her marriage to Samuel Lenzner on February 4, 1886. They moved to Detroit in June, 1886. Mr. Lenzner passed away in that city in August, 1926.

    Mrs. Lenzner was a member of the Church of Our Father, corner of Cass and Forest Avenue, Detroit, a life member of Sampson Chapter, O.E.S. and a past matron of Hayward Chapter, O.E.S.

    She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Edgar G. Braun, of Detroit, with whom she made her home; a son, Col. Delmar Lenzner, of Fort Monroe, Virginia, and a grandson, Edgar Braun, Jr., a student at Wayne University.

    Besides the immediate family, those who came from out of town to attend the burial service here were Mrs. W.S. Gillies and the Misses Chrystal and Marian Read of Detroit and Dr. and Mrs. Grey F. Lenzner of Bad Axe.

    Volume 12 of the STRIFFLER-BENKELMAN BROADCAST, dated September 5, 1949, reported that he had retired from the U.S. Army in September, 1948, and he and Mrs. Lenzner were making their home in Hampton, Virginia.

    Miss Gladys Lenzner received word of the death of her cousin, Colonel Delmar S. Lenzner (United States Army, retired). He died November 30 at his home in Hampton, Virginia, and leaves his widow and a sister, Mrs. Edgar T. Braun (Ruth) of Detroit. Col. Lenzner will be remembered by many Cass City residents.

    Notes:

    Volume 5 of the Striffler-Benkelman Broadcast, dated September 1, 1941, reported that Edgar Braun, Jr. was graduated in January, 1941, by Western High School, Detroit. Ted was president of a class of 170, the youngest member and high man in scholarship. At that time, he was a student at Wayne University.

    In the STRIFFLER-BENKELMAN BROADCAST, Volume 9, September 2, 1946, in a column titled "Still in the Service of the U.S.A.", it was noted that Edgar G. Braun, Jr., (Ted) reported at Forst Benning, Georgia, Aug. 1. It was also reported that he has graduated from West Point on June 4, 1946.

    Volume 10 of the same periodical noted he was with the 811th Engineers Aviation Bat. Stationed on Guam. He was assistant Operations and Training officer. Volume 11 reported he was still on Guam, and had achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.

    Volume 12 of the STRIFFLER-BENKELMAN BROADCAST, dated September 5, 1949, reported that he had returned from Guam and was doing graduate work at the University of Minnesota.

    Volume 13 of the STRIFFLER-BENKELMAN BROADCAST, published on September 4, 1950, reported that he had graduated from the University of Minnesota with an M.S. in Civil Engineering.

    Volume 16 of the same periodical noted he was teaching mechanics at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point. As of the publication date of Volume 19, in 1956, it was reported that he was stationed on the Island of Santa Maria in the Azores. In Volume 20, it was reported that he and Mrs. Braun, along with their two children, Kathryn (4 years) and Charles (2 years) left the Azores for Fort Carson, Colorado. As of the 1959 publication date of Volume 22, it was noted that he was stationed in Fort Leavenworth in Kansas, and was to attend the Command and General Staff School. As of the publication of Volume 23 in September, 1960, he was stationed in Washington, D.C. Volume 28 reported he had been promoted to Colonel and was still stationed in Washington, D.C..

    Edgar married Nancy Ann Hohmann on 29 Dec 1951 in Minnesota. Nancy was born on 12 Jun 1924 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa; died on 18 Dec 1972 in Ithaca, Tompkins County, New York; was buried in United States Miltary Academy Post Cemetery.
