    Evelyn (Karl) Belohlavy, 90, of Crete, died Saturday, March 17, 2012. She was born May 6, 1921 on a farm near Swanton, Neb.. She graduated from Wilber High School in 1939. She married Joseph F. Belohlavy on January 6, 1948 in Monterey, Calif., near Ft. Ord, where Joseph was stationed. After the war, they returned to Saline Conty and later purchased the Belohlavy farm from his father on September 13, 1948. Evelyn then spent a number of years as a homemaker and working on the farm. She later began working at the Wilber Nursing Home where she worked for over 25 years as a nurse's aide then a medication aide. During retirement she enjoyed spending time at her son's business, Turkey Creek Furs and Recycling, Inc., embroidering, crocheting, visiting with family and friends, and baking kolaches weekly.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Belohlavy; parents, Joseph and Bozena "Bessie" (Kysela) Karl; brother, Robert Karl and his wife Velma; sister, Helen (Karl) Havlat and her husband Rudy; sister, Rose (Karl) Belohlavy and her husband Lumir; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Helen Belohlavy, Arnold and Anna Urban, and Joseph Slama.

    She is survived by her son, Roger G. Belohlavy and his wife Janice of Crete, Neb.; grandchildren, Cynthia L. Belohlavy of Fairlawn, Ohio, and Amanda J. (Belohlavy) Karr and her husband Jeremy of Omaha, Neb.; great grandchildren, Emmett L. Karr and Kaylynn N. Karr; and sister-in-law, Josephine Slama; niece and nephews and their families.

    Funeral services will be held at Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete on Tuesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be grandson-in-law, Jeremy Karr, nephews, Lonnie Karl, Doug Karl, Randy Karl, Richard Slama, Gene Slama. Honorary pallbearers will be nephew, Dennis Belohlavy and niece, Trudy Odvody. Visitation Monday 5-9 p.m., Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete. Memorials in care of the family.

Joseph (son of Frantisek "Frank" Belohlavy and Christinia "Christie" Sipek) was born on 11 Apr 1912 in Saline County, Nebraska; died on 9 May 1999 in Crete, Saline County, Nebraska; was buried on 12 May 1999 in Wilber Czech Cemetery (Bohemian-Slavonian Cemetery), Wilber, Saline County, Nebraska.     Dennis Belohlavy writes that his cousin, Roger, was like a brother to him.

    Roger Gene Belohlavy passed away June 15, 2018 after nearly a three year battle with leukemia. He was born July 15, 1949 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Joseph and Evelyn (Karl) Belohlavy. He grew up on a farm near Pleasant Hill, Nebraska. Roger attended Wilber High School. He attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln, receiving his Master's in Meat Science in 1975. He married Janice Kay Rasmussen in 1975. To this union were born two daughters, Cindy and Amanda. Roger raised his family in Crete, Nebraska, operating his small business Turkey Creek Furs and Recycling. He also worked at Alpo Pet Foods for 17 years. Roger later became a licensed real estate broker, operating Turkey Creek Realty with his wife. Roger is survived by his wife Janice (Rasmussen) Belohlavy, daughters Cindy Belohlavy, Windermere, FL, and Amanda (Jeremy) Karr of Lincoln and grandchildren Emmett, Kaylynn, and Hazel Karr. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00 am at Grace United Methodist Church in Crete. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:30 ? 7:30 pm at Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete. Memorials have been designated to the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, Crete Area Medical Center, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete is in charge of arrangements.
