Notes:

Paul Williams notes that "Nancy Ann is daughter of Thomas Kirby [also of Rockcastle Co.] please note the surname Kirby is [sic] Curby in some of earlier census records." He later added that Nancy's mother was Elizabeth Ecton/Acton.

Paul showed her as born ca 1836 in Kentucky. The 1900 census shows her instead as born in May 1840, also in Kentucky.

She was living with her son Thomas G. McLemore and his family at the time of the 1910 Rockcastle, Kentucky census. She was listed as age 73, widowed, the mother of 8 children all still living, and born in Kentucky to parents also born in Kentucky.

Nancy married John D. McLemore on 4 Mar 1855 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. John (son of Gilliam McLemore and ??? Kirby) was born in Jan 1822 in Kentucky; died after 1900 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

As Williams parents were married in March, 1855, it appears he was actually born nine months later, in December, 1855 vs. five years prior to their marriage.

Mrs. Sarah Jane Tyree, Goodman Ridge

Mrs. Sarah Jane Tyree was born in Kentucky, May 30, 1857, and died at the Southern Indiana hospital, July 3, 1933, at the age of 76 years 1 month and 3 days. Surviving are 4 sons and 4 daughters - Mrs. John Dunn, Mrs. Florence Satterfield, and [son] Ola Tyree of this place; Jesse Tyree of near Oakland City; William Tyree of near Princeton; Mrs. William Adkins of Francisco; and David, whereabouts unknown. The husband and two children preceded her. She also leaves 52 grandchildren and 19 great grand- children. She confessed her faith in Christ several years ago. Funeral services were held at the Goodman Ridge church Tuesday afternoon by Leonard Cummins.

Paul Williams writes that Thomas was married three times, to Artemecia McCLURE on 21 Aug 1879, to Martha BULLOCK on 29 May 1902 and finally to Mary C. MINK on 9 Apr 1925. Each of the marriages took place in Rockcastle County, Kentucky. At the time of the 1900 census, Thomas, age 38 and divorced, was living with his parents. His children by Artemicia were not living in with him.

Paul added that "an Uncle Tom McLemore---do not know if it was the brother to Sarah Jane. or a brother of her father John D. McLemore--had a son who ran for Senate from the state of Louisiana."

Her first husband was Ollie Clarence MEEK, and their date of marriage was 24 Jan 1914 in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. They were the parents of Ruth Olive Meek. She married second Thomas COOMER, on 25 Oct 1919. They were the parents of five children. She married third, sometime after the death of Thomas Coomer in 1934, Alonzo COCHRAN.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Dunn, 73, were held Tuesday at the Green Funeral Home in Marengo, with the Rev. William Glosson in charge. Burial was in Goodman cemetery. Survivors include her husband, John Dunn 3 daughters and 2 sons by a former marriage.

Jesse Tyree,94, died at 6a.m. Saturday at Good Samartian Nursing Home in Oakland City. Tyree was born on June 19, 1881 in Crawford County and had resided in the Francisco area all of his life. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Agnes Stewart, Wheeling; 3 sons, Howard, Princeton; Noah, Francisco, and Dick, Oakland City; one brother William Tyree Oakland City; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and several gret-great grandchildren. Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Colvin Chapel with the Rev. Jack Gowen officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery in Francisco.

Mrs. Nancy Satterfield

Mt. Sterling --Nancy Tyree, daughter of William and Sarah Tyree, was born October 20, 1885, and died April 2, 1939, at the age of 53 years, 5 months and 13 days. She was married to Florence Satterfield, September 6, 1903. To this union six children were born, Luetta Jenkins, Bessie Allen, Dorothy Sturgeon, Jefferson, Russell and Clara Bell Satterfield. Nancy was of a family of ten children. Her sisters were Lucy Dunn, Dessie Hicks, Emma Adkins, and Caroline Cumer. Her brothers were Jesse, Dave, William, Ollie, and Charles Tyree. In her youth she united with the Christian church and she always held true to this faith. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Tyree; 2 brothers, Ollie and Charles Tyree; a sister Dessie Hicks, and a grandchild Olive Allen, have preceded her. She leaves her husband, six children, Luetta Jenkins of Hunter, Ark.; Bessie Allen of Tower; Dorothy Sturgeon of English, Route 1; Clara Belle, Jefferson, and Russell Satterfield, of Marengo; 3 sisters, Emma Adkins of Frisco; Caroline Coomer of Princeton; Lucy Dunn of Marengo; 3 brothers Dave Tyree address unknown; William Tyree of Princeton, and Jesse Tyree of Frisco. She also leaves 16 grandchildren and 1 great- grandchild. Funeral services were held April 4 at Mt. Sterling with the Rev. William Glosson in charge.

William Tyree

Funeral services for William Tyree will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday in Colvin & Son Chapel, with burial in IOOF Cemetery. Tyree, an 88 year old Oakland City resident, died at Gibson General hospital after a short illness. He was born in Crawford county on Sept. 24, 1888, and had been a lifetime resident of Princeton before moving to Oakland City, where he had lived the past 4 years. Tyree was a retired inspector for Southern Railway Shops where he worked for 52 years. He was a member of Broadway Christian Church, Princeton. Tyree served in the U. S. Army. Survivors include 7 daughters, Mrs. Mildred Julian of Oakland City, Mrs. Pauline Williams of Terre Haute, Mrs. Georgia Lemaire of Princeton, Mrs. Virginia Relleke of St. Louis Mrs. Betty Hedges of Indianapolis, Mrs. Mary Walters of Evansville, and Mrs. Minnie Jones of Houston; 2 sons, Eugene Tyree of Princeton David LeRoy of Houston, 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. onWednesday at the chapel.

She was born in Crawford County Dec. 26, 1891, and has resided in Francisco since 1915. Surviving are the husband William R. Adkins; a son William Harold of Indianapolis; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ruby Harbison of Gary, Mrs. Ida Bilderback and Mrs. Gladys Davis of Oakland City; 3 brothers, Jess Tyree of Oakland City, Bill Tyree of Princeton, and DAVID of California; 2 sisters, Mrs. Caroline Coomer of Princeton, and Mrs. Lucy Dunn of Marengo; and 13 grandchildren. She was a member of the Francisco Methodist Church where funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F cemetery in Francisco. The body will be removed from the Lamb & Son Funeral Home in Oakland City to the residence in Frncisco friday afternoon.

Ollie Tyree, Marengo

Funeral services were held for Ollie Tyree, 40, Sunday afternoon at the Goodman Ridge Christian church, in charge of the Rev. W. E. Glosson. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Tyree died Saturday at his home near Marengo after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, 2 sons, 3 sisters, Mrs. Emma Coomer of Francisco; Mrs. Florence Satterfield and Mrs. John Dunn of near Marengo; 2 brothers, William and Jesse Tyree. Mr. Tyree was born October 19, 1893 and died December 2, 1933. He married Eskel Dunn, August 15, 1915. To this union 5 childen were born, two of whom preceded him in death. Surviving are the widow Eskel; 2 sons Alvin, 17, and Raymond, 8; a daughter, Elise, 16, all at home; 3 brothers, Jesse Tyree of Oakland City, William Tyree of Princeton, and David Tyree whereabouts unknown; 4 sisters, Mrs. William Adkins of Francisco, Ind., Mrs. Arthur Coomer of Princeton; Mrs. Florence Satterfield of English; Mrs. John Dunn of Marengo. He confessed his faith in Christ and was baptised several months ago.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Lincoln Wagner and Mrs. Rosalie Satterfield, both of Princeton; 4 sons, Charles, Dale, Carl and Bill Coomer all of Princeton; 2 brothers William Tyree of Francisco and Jesse Tyree of Oakland City; 30 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday at Colvin Chapel with the Rev. Frank Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today.

William McLemore
William McLemore, 63, lifetime Princeton resident died Sunday at 6:15 p.m. in Gibson General Hospital after a short illness. Mr. McLemore was born February 28, 1906 in Temple, Ind. in Crawford County. He had been a Cab driver for City Cab the past 20 years. He attended the House of Prayer. Mr. McLemore was member of VFW 1147 and a Veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Laura McLemore; one daughter, Mrs. Anita Beard of Princeton; two sons, Jim McLemore and William Shoulders both of Princeton; one brother, Guy McLemore of Oak Ridge, Tenn. and 2 grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Colvin Chapel with Rev. James Miller officiating. Friends may call at Colvin & Son Mortuary after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

On his application for a Social Security account, completed on August 27, 1937, he listed his date of birth as February 28, 1907 in Temple, Indiana. It is assumed this date is more accurate, as it was completed by William himself, than the date in his obituary. His parents were shown as Wright McLemore and Sarah Longust. His employer at that time was Thomas Christian of Princeton.

Guy McLemore

Retired AEC employee Guy McLemore, 86, of Oak Ridge died Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998 at NHC Health Center of Oak Ridge. Mr. McLemore was retired from the Atomic Energy Commission, a Department of Energy predeccessor agency. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Elks Lodge and the Oak Ridge Boat Club. Mr. McLemore is survived by his wife, Willia McLemore, and a stepson, Robert Clark of Knoxville. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Larry Hammock officiating. McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
