  1. 1.  Zadoc Brashears was born before 1801 in Mississippi Territory; died on 19 Aug 1833.

    Notes:

Wynema McGrew writes that Zadock was a member of the Choctaw Indian Nation, but it is unknown which parent was the Choctaw. He apparently was married prior to his marriage to Ann, because he and an unnamed son owed $431.26 at the Choctaw Trading House in St. Stephens, Mississippi Territory. The listing of debtors was dated 1 Oct 1822, and his credit rated good. The first mention of his indebtedness to the Trading House was 31 Dec 1819, and in the 31 Mar 1831 report of those with balances dues, he and an unamed son were listed. He signed by his mark the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek, dated 28 Sept 1830. Several Brashears, one of whom was Zadock, applied to remain five years and become citizens of the State [United States]. The date of entry of Zadock's application was 13 Jun 1831, and he had two children under the age of ten years and one child over ten years. "Half Breed man" was written in the remarks column.

Wynema McGrew shows the 1830 deed between Zadoc and son, Jesse Brashears. (Deed Book B, Page 141, dated 12 Mar 1830).

Zadoc married Anna De Castro on 22 Aug 1826 in Marengo, Clarke County, Alabama. Anna (daughter of Julien De Castro and Elizabeth McGrew) was born about 1801 in St. Stephens, Washington County, Alabama; and died. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
