Notes:

1862 enlisted in McLemore's Co. F, 4th Tennessee Cavalry. Discharged in 1863 on account of bad health. According to Confederate Soldiers and Patriots of Maury County, Tennessee "He was court martialed by Federals on 3 May 1865 because in Dec. 1864 he and Richard Mackey got 1000 grain sacks from the Carter's Creek Station; he was released."

Betty Pritchett writes that "During the rest of the war years, he worked in the Commissary Department in Columbia, Tennessee. He spent most of his civilian life as a farmer and a stock raiser."

Thomas----Died in this city, March 18, 1941, Mrs. Janie McLemore Thomas, age 71 years. residence Auroa Apts. She is survived by her sister, Miss Robina McLemore. The remains will be sent to Dallas, Texas at 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 19th, by Hady McCollum Murray for services and interment there.

There was a Robina McLamore who was born in Tennessee, and was a lodger at a home in Dallas at the time of the 1910 census. However, she was listed as born ca 1884, so this may not be the same person. Her occupation was that of Secretary and Treasurer at a Telegraph office. The same Robina McLemore, now listed as a private secretary at a Telegraph office, was still boarding in a home in Dallas in 1920. The 1920 census puts her year of birth as ca. 1880. She again was listed as born in Tennessee.

The Texas Death index has a record for a Robina McLemore, married, dying on February 3, 1964 in Taylor County, Texas.

She was buried at the Masonic cemetery in Abilene.

According to her application for a Social Security Number, filed October 10, 1963 when she was 64 years old, Lesey was the daughter of Adkins Pope McLemore and Josephine Craig. She was born November 18, 1898 in Haskell, Haskell County, Texas, and at the time of her application was living at 522 Grape, Abilene, Texas.

Lesey married John Caro Russell, Sr. about 1927. John (son of Joe Caro Russell and Annie Elizabeth Gaffney) was born on 1 Jun 1896 in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri; died on 24 May 1982 in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
