    Flynn - Rose M. (widow of Carleton), 90, Lincoln, died Thursday (7/11/96). Survivors: sons, daughters-in-law, Bob and Theresa Flynn, Lincoln, Carleton G. Jr. and Dr. Linda, Estes Park, Colo.; daughter, son-in-law, Marilyn and Neal Pahl, Aurora, Colo.; grandchildren, Erin, Leslie Pahl, Mike, George Flynn; two great-grandchildren.

    Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Roper & Sons Chapel, 4300 O St. Pallbearers: Stuart, Taylor Flynn, Marvin Gooding, Neil Pahl, Ronald Rippe, Jon Dvorak. Visitation: until services Monday, mortuary. Memorials to Lincoln Area Retired Teachers Association or First Presbyterian Church.




    Rose M. Flynn, a nationally recognized calligrapher, died Thursday. The retired teacher was 90.

    Flynn, born in Fillmore County and raised on a Saline County farm, graduated from the University of Nebraska with a mathematics-science degree and earned a master's degree in education.

    She taught in various Nebraska communities and at the University of Nebraska. At age 80, she was teaching a handwriting class at Southeast Community College.

    Her national work included help in reconstructing old government documents and the writing of place cards for two presidential administrations in Washington, D.C. Locally, she wrote diplomas for Lincoln Public Schools and honorary documents for the offices of Lincoln's mayor and Nebraska's governor.

    Along with teaching, she served at one point as assistant county assessor.

    She and her husband, Carleton, were the first PTA presidents of Millard Lefler Junior High School. She also was a leader in the Lincoln Woman's Club and the Capital Business and Professional Club.

    Services are set for Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Roper & Sons Mortuary chapel, 1300 O St. Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery
