    Notes:

    A 1938 graduate of Bird City High School, he later attended Colorado University. After spending several months working at a steel mil in Gary, Indiana, he enlisted in the army and served in the Signal Corps until 1946. After his army service, Donald earned his master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He was then employed by Brown Instrument Company, a subsidiary of Minneapolis-Honeywell Manufacturing. (Milligan, p 347).
