PAMPA-Traffic Accident Fatal for Child
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon for Robert D. Thompson, 3 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson, who was killed at 12:25 Tuesday afternoon in the streets of Pampa. This was the first traffic fatality in the city of Pampa this year. Services will be held in the First Baptist Church in Pampa with the Rev. E. Douglas Carver, pastor the church, officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery with the Duenkel-Carmichael funeral home in charge of the arrangements. Officers reported that the small child was playing about 50 yards from his home and ran from behind a parked car into the path of an automobile driven by J.B. Massa, co-owner of the Soft Water Service Company. The child died instantly. Attending physicians reported that the young boy died of a skull fracture. The child is survived by his parents; one sister, Dorothy; grandparents, Mrs. A.P. Thompson of Breckenridge, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin W. Payne, Duncan, Oklahoma; uncles Fred Thompson, former mayor of Pampa, and Fritz Thompson of Borger. (Unidentified clipping from 1947)
