    Private family services will be held Thursday (12/6/07). A public visitation will be held Wednesday (12/5/07) at Govier Bros. Mortuary, Broken Bow, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Elk's PER Scholarship Fund or the Donor's Choice.

    Rose Kopsa

    Rose Marie Kopsa, age 80 of York, died Monday, November 29, 2004 at York. She was born at Ohiowa, NE on March 27, 1924 to James and Albina (Matejka) Stych. Rose attended and graduated from the Ohiowa High School. She was very proud that as a farm girl, she never missed a day of school. On March 23, 1946, she was married to Lawrence A. Kopsa at Belleville, KS and they lived and farmed in the Cordova/Utica area for 10 years. Rose and her husband owned and operated a Kopsa's Tavern and Cafe at Cordova, NE from 1957-67. They then managed the Friend Country Club for 3 years before coming to York to manage the York Country Club for 15 years, retiring in 1985.

    Rose is survived by her 2 sons; Larry and his wife Maggie Kopsa of York and Jerry Kopsa of Buffalo, NY; her 9 grandchildren, James (Jennifer) Kopsa of Omaha, Lisa (Jeremy) Pierce of Lincoln, Thomas, Stephen and Michael Kopsa of Buffalo, NY, Ben (Halie) Kopsa of Ft. Irwin, CA, Chris (Kama) Bedient of Lincoln, Tony Bedient of Scottsdale, AZ and Ryan Kopsa of York; 9 great-grandchildren, Sarah, James David, Maria, Julia & Kyle Kopsa all of Omaha, Morgan, Ryley & Ethan Pierce of Lincoln and Kaiden Bedient of Lincoln. Also surviving are her brother Henry (Jo) Stych of Broken Bow and her 2 sisters, Mildred Ortgies and Angeline Nun, both of Geneva. Preceding her in death were her husband Lawrence in 1995, parents, 3 brothers Ed, James & Melvin Stych, sister Libby Kolar and granddaughter Laura Kopsa.

    Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Barbara Hansen and LeRoy Hoyer officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at York.

    A Memorial Service for Allen will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Pastor Stuart Sell will officiate the service.

    It was Allen's wish to be cremated and have his ashes scattered at Glen Elder Lake at a later date.

    Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

    Allen Ray Stych was born at Ohiowa, Nebraska to Edward & Velma (Buzek) Stych on July 22, 1937. He passed away at his home in Hebron, Nebraska on April 24, 2019 at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 2 days.

    Allen was baptized and confirmed as an adult at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning, Nebraska on December 28, 1952. He graduated from Bruning High School in 1955.

    He worked for Hinrichs & Son Hardware in Bruning for 31 years. He was also a partner in ownership of B & Z Oil in Hebron for many years selling petroleum products to many people in the Thayer & Fillmore County areas.

    In his spare time, Allen enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his yard. He also enjoyed visiting with his many friends.

    Allen was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Everett Stych.

    Left to remember him are sister-in-law Eileen Stych; nieces Pamela Benson and Linda Troester; great niece Jaime Troester; and many relatives and friends.
