    Ray lived near Milligan his entire life. He attended grade school in District #85 and graduated from Milligan High School in 1939. He entered the army during World War II on September 4, 1942 and was honorably discharged on October 13, 1945, serving inthe European Theatre, and seeing action in Africa, Italy, Corsica, France and Germany. After returning home, he met his future bride at a dance in Ohiowa. They were blessed with 36 years of married life and two children. His chosen occupatoin was farming which he dearly loved. He was an active and proud member of the American Legion Post #240 Milligan and the VFW Post #7102 of Geneva (Milligan, 1988-2008. p. 130).

    Raymond married Enola Langhorst on 6 Jun 1947 in Fillmore County, Nebraska. Enola was born on 2 Feb 1928 in Thayer County, Nebraska; died on 6 Oct 2023 in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska.
