    Find A Grave, Memorial ID 54708446, shows him as a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sandifer. He appears to have been married twice, first to Edna L Gerald (1883-1917) and later to Vernon Gupton (1890-1973).

    The Social Security Applications and Claims index for Eddie Sandifer shows his birth date as 17 August 1917, and date of death as 2 February 1990. This matches the dates on Find A Grave. The Find A Grave page contains a photo of his Military Marker, showing he served as a Private in the US Army during World War II. His parents on Find A Grave are shown as John L and Edna L Sandifer, and his spouse listed as Eunice L Sandifer (27 April 1902 -5 October 1988-died in Oneonta, Blount, Alabama). It appears he was born three days before his mother, Edna Gerald Sandifer died, presumably of complications of childbirth.

    At the time of the 1930 Federal Census, he was living in Franklin County, Mississippi, Beat 3, in the home of John L Sandifer and his second wife, Vernie, along with his two younger half sisters, Bernice and Irene.

    His U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946 instead shows him as born 1918 in Mississippi, divorced with dependents, a resident of Adams, Mississippi, completed 3 years of high school, working as an attendant at filling stations and parking lots, and enlisting at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, Service Number 34344035, Heigth 66 inches and weight 132 pounds

    Irene Sandifer Mullen (Punk), 88, passed away on June 23, 2015 in her home in Houston, Texas, surrounded by family.

    Irene was born on July 26, 1926 in Franklin County, MS and grew up in the sawmill town of Quentin. She married William (Bill) Mullen, her hometown sweetheart, in 1952. The couple made their home in Houston, Texas, where she was a homemaker. Irene, Bill, and their daughters attended Richmond Plaza Baptist Church in Bellaire, TX for many years. In 2001, the Mullens joined Tallowood Baptist Church, where they were active members of the Sonshine sunday school class. They resided in the Westchester subdivision in the Memorial area, where Irene enjoyed playing in the neighborhood bridge group. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Astros and the Texans. She made pancakes every Saturday for all who would come by. She was a wonderful wife and mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.

    She is survived by her two children: Kim Mullen and Sherry Mullen Strong (and husband Paul), both of Houston, TX; one "adopted daughter" Julia Ingram of Houston; four beloved grandchildren: Chris Crumby (and wife Jean), Keri Crumby, Elizabeth Strong Alvarez (and husband Jonathan), and Billy Strong; three great grandchildren: Hudson and Keegan Crumby and JD Alvarez. She is also survived by her sweet older sister, Bernice Kent of Pascagoula, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews.

    The family would like to especially thank the staff at Houston Hospice for their compassionate care for our mom during her final days.

    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Road, Houston, TX 77024. The family will receive visitors an hour before the service.

    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Irene Mullen to Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Lane, Houston, TX 77024.

    Irene married William "Bill" Harry Mullen about 1952. William (son of William Pendelton Mullen and Laura Emma Pannell) was born on 16 Oct 1925 in Franklin County, Mississippi; died on 8 Dec 2013 in Katy, Harris County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
