His FindAGrave memorial page has a phone of his military marker, and also notes that "John Emory Stevenson served in the Confederacy during the United States Civil War as a Private in Company F of the Eighth Regiment of the Mississippi Infantry."

His page is linked to wife Mildred (1844-1918) and three children, Summer, Winter and Stella. Notes on the memorial pages for the family indicate: John Emory Stevenson who came from Louisianaa to Texas and married Mildred M.
