1843 - 1927 (83 years)
Generation: 1
1. | James Amberson Cooper was born on 12 Nov 1843 in Hinds County, Mississippi; died on 5 Jan 1927 in Pineland, Sabine County, Texas; was buried in Jacks Cemetery, Pineland, Sabine County, Texas. Notes:
Virgie Speights shows his middle name as Anderson, but all other researchers indicate it was actually Amberson. This is supported by the Widow's Application for a Confederate Pension application completed by Amelia Cooper, listing the full name of her husband as James Amberson Cooper. She also referenced that he had previously drawn a pension, citing file number 33200. Ancestry.com shows in their Civil War Service Records database that J. A. Cooper served in the Eleventh Texas Infantry, entering as a private and being discharged as a Corporal.
