Newton County Historical Committee, , "Glimpses of Newton County History," (Nortex Press, Burnet, Texas, 1982), notes that a Henry Bivens was appointed a reviewer to review the road ...on the nearest and most practible route to the county line in the direction of Green's Bluff. As this appointment was in 1849, it could not have been the same Henry Bivens, but perhaps it was his father or other relative (pp. 167-169).
