Bef 1785 - Yes, date unknown
Generation: 1
1. | ??? McLemore was born before 1785; and died. Notes:
It is being ASSUMED that Reuben, Matthew and Dorcus McLemore, all born between 1805 and 1811 in South Carolina, and residents of Copiah County, MS at the time of the 1850 and/or 1860 census are likely siblings, and were born to a currently unknown McLemore father.
This is based not just on their close ages and birthplace, but also on the research of Ann and Eldon McLemore, who provided the following information:
"REUBEN McLEMORE filed a bond for $16,000 in Copiah. Named on the bond were ELIZABETH McLEMORE (wife???), Virginia Marsh, MATHEW McLEMORE (brother???) and Uriah Millsap, dated 5 Dec 1860. Signed by all except Virginia."
Ann and Eldon also state that guardianship for Mary Ann Whitehead, a daughter of Dorcus (nee McLemore), was probated for Mary Ann to Reuben McLemore, brother of her mother, on 22 Mar 1867."
Ann and Eldon believe that the parents of Reuben, Matthew and Dorcus are John McLemore and Winnie Baltice. No evidence has been found, however, to prove this link.
It also appears that the reference to Winnie Baltice might actually be to Vinie Batiste, who married another McLemore and was not the mother of Reuben, Matthew or Dorcus of Copiah County; or Wesley or John of Scott County, whom Ann and Eldon speculate might also be siblings of Reuben, Matthew and Dorcus.
Family/Spouse: Unknown. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Generation: 2
2. | Reuben McLemore (1.???1) was born on 17 Mar 1805 in South Carolina; and died. Notes:
Shown by Ann and Eldon McLemore of Kansas as a son of John McLemore and Winnie Baltice, and sibling to Wesley, Matthew, Dorcas, John and Robert. He is shown on several internet trees, unsourced, as a son of Winnie BATTICE, however no father is listed. One tree lists him as a son of Moses McLemore and Winnie Battice. Merritt Mullen, who is a descendant of Moses McLemore and Vinnie Batiste, says this is incorrect. There was no son named Reuben born to Moses McLemore or his wife Vinnie.
Ann and Eldon further note that Reuben organized a Masonic Lodge in Copiah County, MS. Filed a bond for $16,000 in Copiah. Named on the bond were Elizabeth McLemore, Virginia Marsh, Mathew McLemore and Uriah Millsap, dated 5 Dec 1860. Signed by all except Virginia. They also state that guardianship for Mary Ann Whitehead, a daughter of Dorcus, was probated for Mary Ann to Reuben McLemore, brother of her mother, on 22 Mar 1867.
They say he died when a tree fell on him.

I have Reuben as son of John McLemore. Siblings, if correct, are Robert, Wesley,Reuben, Matthew, John, and Dorcus. There may be more sisters. I find John McLemore in Hinds County in 1830 and Rankin County in 1840. I believe he is the John McLemore listed in the 1810 and 1820 census in Barnwell District, SC. I also do not believe this is the son of Major John McLemore. I believe that his brothers (at least) were Howell and Matthew (see 1810 Barnwell Census). One of Matthew's grandsons, Howell W came to Hinds County to marry and then later returned to Barnwell. Later, Matthew's daughter Sarah Page moves to Copiah County. I believe Howell is the one that ended up in Emanuel County, GA.

3. | Matthew McLemore (1.???1) was born about 1808 in South Carolina; and died. Notes:
Shown by Ann and Eldon McLemore of Kansas as a son of John McLemore and Winnie Baltice, and sibling to Wesley, Rueben, Dorcas, John and Robert.
Instead shown by Mark Freeman and others as a son of Amos and Equilla McLemore.
It is assumed, based on the reasearch of Ann and Eldon McLemore, that he is likely a sibling of Reuben and Dorcus McLemore, also born in South Carolina within a few years of Matthew, and also living in Copiah County, Mississippi at the the time of the 1850 census. However, his parents have not been proven.
Ann and Eldon note that Rueben McLemore filed a bond for $16,000 in Copiah. Named on the bond were Elizabeth McLemore, Virginia Marsh, Mathew McLemore and Uriah Millsap, dated 5 Dec 1860. Signed by all except Virginia.
The 1860 Copiah County, Mississippi slave census shows that M. McLemore owned 8 slaves. Other slaveowners with the McLemore surname in Copiah County were John McLemore, with 1 slave, and Reuben McLemore, with 5.
