Mrs. Peter Burg Died at Age of 80
Mrs. Peter Burg passed away at her home Sunday evening at six o'clock, after a brief illness of bronchial pneumonia. Althought in failing health this winter, she was only confined to her bed for two days when she was called to her reward.
Elizabeth Striffler was born at Lancaster, Erie county, New York, January 6, 1848, and had attained the age of eighty years, one month, and 28 days. She was united in marriage with Peter Burg July 29, 1874. They came to Cass City in 1880, and endured the hardships of the fire in the spring of 1881.
Mrs. Burg was converted in her youth, and after coming to Michigan, united with the Evangelical church at Cass City, of which she was a faithful attendant while health permitted.
She was a woman of quiet disposition, a good neighbor, devoted to her family and ready to help whenever she could.
The funeral service was held in the Evangelical church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock and was attended by a large circle of relatives and friends showing the esteem in which she was held.
She leaves to mourn her demise three children, Mrs. Harry L. Hunt, Miss Emma and George Burg, all of this place, also five grandchildren. Her husband died five years ago on New Years day and one son died in infancy. She also leaves one brother, Charles D. Striffler, of Cass City. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Relatives from out of town who atteded the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Nique of Decker, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Graham and son, Caro, Kenneth Striffler of Detroit and Mrs. Katherine Much of Colwood.

Funeral of Mrs. H.L. Hunt Held Today
Mrs. Harry L. Hunt passed away early Wednesday morning in her home, following a stroke which she suffered about a week ago. She had been poorly for about eight years.
Funeral services will be conducted today (Friday) at 2 p.m. in the Evangelical Church by Rev. S.P. Kirn and interment will be made in Elkland cemetery.
Minnie Burg was born in the state of New York May 16, 1875, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Burg. At the age of six years, she came to this county with her family, where she has since resided. On Feb. 16, 1898, she was united in marriage with Harry L. Hunt, who preceded her in death January 25, 1942. For six years Mr. and Mrs. Hunt conducted a grocery and china store in Cass City and in 1907 they established a greenhouse which is now being conducted by their son, Lewis Hunt.
Mrs. Hunt is survived by three daughters, Miss Thelma Hunt, a teacher in Ypsilanti high school, Mrs. William Wyman of Trenton, Mich., and Miss Betty Hunt of Detroit, two sons, Lewis of Cass City and Russell of Farmington, and one brother, George Burg, of Cass City.

Obituary
Miss Emma Burg
Funeral services for Miss Emma Burg, who died Monday, June 24, after an illness of seven months, were held in the home of her sister, Mrs. H.L. Hunt, in Cass City, on Wednesday afternoon. Rev. G.A Spitler was the officiating clergyman. Interment was made in Elkland Cemetery.
Emma S. Burg, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Burg, was born in Cass City on Sept. 8, 1883. She spent most of her life in Cass City, graduating from the local high school in 1901, and attended school in Ypsilanti for about a year. She taught school a number of years around Cass City and also did office work in this place for a few years.
She leaves to mourn one sister, Mrs. H.L. Hunt, one brother, George E. Burg of Cass City, five nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

George Burg dies in Nursing Home
Funeral services for George Burg, 73, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Little's Funeral Home. The Rev. S. R. Wurtz, pastor of Salem Evangelical U.B. church, of which Mr. Burg was a member for more than 50 years, officiated. Burial was in Elkland cemetery.
Mr. Burg had been ill for the past eight years and a patient in Heatherstone Nursing Home at Caro for the past two years. He died at the nursing home Monday night.
Son of the late Peter [Burg] and Elizabeth Striffler, he was born at Cass City Feb. 28, 1887. He was a graduate of Cleary Business college of Ypsilanti and was an accountant.
Besides his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Harry Hunt (Minnie) and Miss Emma Burg, preceded him in death.
Surviving are one nephew, Russell Hunt of Farmington, and two nieces, Mrs. William Wyman of Trenton and Miss Betty Hunt of Detroit.

Heart Attack Fatal for Miss Thelma Hunt
Funeral services for Miss Thelma J. Hunt, 54, esteemed teacher at Cass City High School, were held at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Cass City.
Miss Hunt came to Cass City from Roosevelt High School in Ypsilanti. In the more than seven years she taught here, she became a valued member of the school staff and student leader.
School was dismissed Tuesday afternoon so that teachers and friends could attend the final rites. A collection was taken by her students. Part of the money contributed was used for flowers and the remainder will be used for a memorial that will be displayed at the school.
Miss Hunt was born in Cass City, Nov. 29, 1900, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hunt. She graduated from Cass City High School with high honors and earned Phi Beta Kappa honors at the University of Michigan from where she graduated in 1928. In 1937 she received her M.A. degree from U. of M.
She had a long, succesful career. Following her graduation, she taught in Ida and Ionia before acceptign a position at Ypsilanti where she taught from 1935 to 1948.
At Ypsilanti she was a critic teacher and at Cass City she taught English and Latin.
First signs of her fatal illness were reported Thursday, Oct. 27. She called authorities in the morning, saying she was ill. However, she later decided to go to school anyway. Later in the morning she complained of a pain in the chest and left arm and a physician was called.
She was taken to Pleasant Home Hospital by ambulance where she died Saturday, Nov. 12.
Miss Hunt was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Presbytherian Guild, Michigan Education Association and Hobby Club.
Surviving are: two sisters, Mrs. William (Catherine) Wyman of Trenton and Miss Betty Hunt of Detroit; a brother, Russell, of Birmingham, and an uncle, George BURG of Cass City.
Rev. Melvin R. Vender, Presbyterian pastor, officiated at the funeral and burial was in Elkland Cemetery.

Lewis H. Hunt's Funeral Sunday
Funeral services for Lewis Harry Hunt, 40, were held at the Douglas Funeral Home Sunday afternoon by Rev. Stanley P. Kirn. Interment was made in the Elkland cemetery. Members of the Tyler Lodge, F. & A.M., of which Mr. Hunt was a member, conducted the burial rites of the order. Mr. Hunt died Thursday, Feb. 10, at his farm home north of here. He had been in failing health for several years.
Lewis H. Hunt was born in Cass City June 5, 1908. Following his education in the local school, he worked for several years in the floral business for his father, Harry L. Hunt, and was later his partner. Lewis Hunt conducted the business after his father's death until last fall when he disposed of the greenhouse because of ill health.
He is survived by three sisters, Miss Thelma Hunt of Cass City, Mrs. William Wyman of Trenton, and Miss Elizabeth Hunt of Detroit, and a brother, Russell Hunt of Farmington.

Russell Hunt
Russell J. Hunt, 83, of Farmington Hills, died Monday, December 23, 1996, in Botsford Hospital.
He was born February 12, 1913, in Cass City, to Harry and Minnie (Burg) Hunt. He married Sibyl Kern in 1943 in Chicago, IL.
He attended Michigan State Normal and Colorado University, taught in New Baltimore, served in the Navy, then taught in Redford in Detroit.
Surviving are his wife, Alice, a sister, Catherine WYMAN of Trenton, and a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma who taught in Cass City, and one brother, Lewis, who was a florist in Cass City.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 27, at Heeney Sunquist Funeral Home with the Rev. John Trate officiating.
Interment was in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorial services will be held later.

Betty Hunt, 68, dies in Detroit
Elizabeth (Betty) Hunt, 68, of 16616 Blackstone St., Detroit, died Feb. 23 at her home.
She was born Jan. 9, 1917, in Cass City, the daughter of Harry and Minnie Hunt.
Miss Hunt was a graduated of Michigan State with a B.S. Degree and was division manager from 1939 unitl 1977 with Sears-Roebuck, Detroit.
She was active in the American Red Cross, was a member of the AARP, and a member of the Redford United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Catherine Wyman of Trenton; one brother, Russell Hunt; a niece, Janice MacLeod, and a nephew, William Wyman, and a dear friend, Augustine Bertotti.
The Ross B. Northrop and Son Funeral Home, 22401 Grand River, Detroit, are in charge of arrangements.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Redford United Methodist Church, 22400 Grand River.
Memorials are suggested to the church.
Burial will be in Elkland Cemetery.
