1. | Josiah McLemore was born about 1803 in South Carolina; and died. Notes:

Generation: 2
2. | Nancy Mary McLemore (1.Josiah1) was born on 1 Nov 1830 in Jones County, Mississippi; and died. Notes:
Some researchers show her date of death as early as 1873. Henry Lee of McComb, Mississippi instead lists it as May 21, 1909, with her burial in the Green Creek Cemetery in Perry County, Mississippi. As this is the date that her husband's death was reported in a Covington County newspaper, he might be confusing the two.

3. | Rosa Lavinia McLemore (1.Josiah1) was born about 1831 in Jones County, Mississippi; died about 1900 in Perry County, Mississippi; was buried in McLemore Cemetery, Forrest County, Mississippi. Notes:
When her husband was killed in 1863, Rosa was left with five children, all under the age of 12. She never remarried and remained focused on her family's survival during the desperate times of the Reconstruction. After the war she moved her family to Copiah County, MS and engaged in land speculation with her brother, John Thomas McLemore. By 1878 she had moved her family back to Perry County. The 1880 US Census lists Rosa with all her children living in the same household except daughter Sebelle R who had married Abraham L. FAIRCHILD. Here in Perry (now Forrest) County, Rosa lived out her life until she died believed to be after 1900 on the old John McLemore property and was buried in the family cemetery. (Hammond, "MAJOR AMOS McLEMORE", p. 2).

A Leroy McLemore is listed on the SSDI, with a birthdate of June 25, 1902. However, he was assigned a number (425-10-7724) through a Request for E/R Action rather than completing an application for a number, and no further identifying information, other than his name and birthdate, is shown.
Rebecca Mullinix reports that he was killled in a robbery in Eastabuthie, MS.
|
60. | Celeste "Lessie" Amelia McLemore (16.Walter3, 3.Rosa2, 1.Josiah1) was born on 3 May 1905 in Mississippi; died on 21 Jun 1945; was buried in Roseland Park Cemetery, Hattiesburg, Forrest County, Mississippi. Notes:
She appears to have been living with her mother at the time of the 1930 census. Although she was listed as married, no husband was present in the home. She was shown as the mother of James E. MITCHELL, a newborn.
Rebecca Mullinex emailed in July, 2009 that she never knew her grandmother to go by the name Celeste, but instead knew her always as Amelia Lessie McLemore. Rebecca added that "Lessie was born in 1905. She married James Herman Mitchell (born 1907) and had my father, James Edward Mitchell April 5, 1930. She was living with her parents when the 1930 census was taken. She died sometime in the 1940's according to a living nephew - Gene McLemore (he remembered he was away in the army when he recieved the news) but does not know where she is buried or what year she died. The only siblings I knew as a very small child were Walter Amos McLemore (when I was a child, he was referred to as "Uncle Amos") and his wife Inez, and a sister Elma McLemore that we called "Auntie" who lived in the same town as we did for a few years. But being a child, never thought to ask about family history. I remember LeRoy McLemore being killed when I was very young. He was shot in a robbery, I believe, Eastabuthie, MS. down the road from what was called the "Old Place" on Hwy 11.

64. | Bulah B. McLemore (18.John3, 4.Joseph2, 1.Josiah1) was born in Nov 1894 in Mississippi; and died. Notes:
Might she have married Samuel Carter, and then died, prior to 1920? As of the 1920 Forrest County, Mississippi , census, she is no longer listed in her parents household, but a 22 year old Samuel T. Carter, son-in-law is shown. It is also possible he is instead married to her sister Eula. Eula is still listed as Eula McLemore in 1920, but also shown as married.
Additionally, on the 1920 Perry County, Mississippi, a Beula, also born ca 1894, can be found as the Wife of Lawrence McLemore, living in Beat 2. In 1900 Beulah's parents lived in Beat 3 of Perry County, prior to their move to Forrest County.

He was listed as age 32, born December 13, 1903 in Pervis, Mississippi, to Wiliam W. McLemore and Eliza Elizabeth Parker. His Find A Grave Memorial page insteas shows him as born 13 Dec 1902.
His brother John, also an employee of Goodyear Yellow Pine, applied for a Social Security account just three days after Sim.
|
83. | John A. McLemore (25.William3, 4.Joseph2, 1.Josiah1) was born on 30 Dec 1904 in Picayune, Pearl River County, Mississippi; died on 27 Sep 1997 in Picayune, Pearl River County, Mississippi; was buried in New Palestine Cemetery, Pearl River County, Mississippi. Notes:
John McLemore completed an application for a Social Security account on November 28, 1936, showing himself as age 32. His address at the time of the application was 338 Palestine Road, Picayune, Mississippi, and his employer was Goodyear Yellow Pine Co.
John reported that he was born December 30, 1903 in Picayune to William Robert McLemore and Liza Parker, both deceased.
His brother, Sim Joseph McLemore was also employed by Goodyear Yellow Pine, and completed an application for a social security account a few days prior to John. Sim listed his date of birth as December 13, 1903. As it would be nearly impossible for Sim and John to be born only 17 days apart, to the same parents, in 1903, it is assumed that John and Sim were actually twins, or that one or the other had the wrong age and year of birth listed on their social security application. John's headstone is engraved with the DOB of 30 December 1904, assumed to be correct.
