Willoughby Simon Fullen

Notes:

Sharon Leamon writes that Willoughby Simon Fullen was born on May, 10 1871. On his death certificate his dad is listed as Jim Fuller (Fullen) and his mother as a Parker with no first name. It also lists as both of them being born in Texas.

His actual death certificate shows his date of birth as October 5, 1871, with no location being shown. He is shown on the Death Certificate simply as W. S. Fullen. The 1900 Census also shows his Month and year of birth as Oct. 1871. Census enumerations show his place of birth alternately as Louisiana, Alabama, Texas and Mississippi.

Willoughby died as a result of an auto accident outside of Bowie, Texas on September 26, 1933.

It is noted that the name and date of birth of Sharon's great grandfather are close to this entry from a scan of Catherine Parker Fullen's family bible, which is owned by Don and Amy Fullen. Catherine Parker was married to James Fullen.

His burial information, however, as shown in the scan of BURIALS recorded in Catherine Parker Fullen's bible, was as follows:

Willoughby May 12th 1896 Aged thirteen years 2 days

Could it be the information about two seperate sons of James and Catherine have been somewhat confused over the years?

Why would they have two living sons named Willoughby however? Why is the older Willoughby seemingly not listed?

Sheri Burk, in a post to a genealogy blog at www.bebo.com, instead speculates that Willoughby Simon Fullen is a son of Willoby Aserie Fullen by his third wife. She did not have positive documentation of this, however.

At the time of the 1930 census, a 19 year old Lonnie A. Fullen, born in Texas with a father born in Mississpppi and a mother born in Tennessee, was listed a boarder in San Patrico County, Texas, in the home of George Dalman. Lonnie's occupation was listed as "Laborer, Odd Jobs." Sharon Leamon shows his date of birth as April 17, 1911, the California Death Index instead shows April 17, 1912.

The Texas Birth index shows that a Lonnie Andrew Fullen, husband of Mary Juanita Thomas, was the father of Bobbie Andrew Fullen, born 31 January 1943 in Nueces County.

Jewel married Vaundle L. Roper before 1935. Vaundle was born on 22 Mar 1912 in Oklahoma; died on 4 Jan 1989 in Santa Cruz County, California. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

William was born Aug. 29, 1916 to Ollie Manchel Fullen and Helen Lucas/Fullen. He married Nellie Florence Lummus on September 7, 1935 in Whiteface, Texas. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for a road construction company.

He died in Breckenridge, Texas on June 18, 2001 and was interned in the Sundown Cemetery at Sundown, Texas. He was a resident of Sundown for over 60 years.

Ricky Dwayne Fullen, 58, of Sundown passed from this life on Sept. 7, 2022. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, in the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Allen Whitley officiating.
Ricky Dwayne Fullen was born May 6, 1964, in Levelland. He grew up some in Odessa and lived in Sundown. He was an oilfield electrician and worked for K-Bar and Dixie Electric. In 2011, he opened his own shop, R-Tech. He married Melinda Ann Stone on Dec. 11, 1987.
He loved God and his family.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, W.B. Fullen Jr.; mother and stepfather, Norma and Bob Rumbaugh; nephew, Paul Smith; and grandparents, W.B. Bill and Nellie Fullen.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda Ann Stone Fullen of Sundown; sister-in-law, Laura Rene Lilleland of Sundown; stepmother, Carolyn Fullen of Sundown; sister, Vickie (Jack) Smith of Moran; Tony Fullen of Lubbock; Wes and Betty Willhite of Tashimingo, Oklahoma; Jeffry Stanley of Sundown; Melissa Ann Stanley of Sundown; two dogs, Bandie and Shasta; and nine nieces and nephews and nine grates.
