Mae Bell Chance, 90, of Orange died Friday, June 25, 2004 at Oakwood Manor in Vidor. Mrs. Chance was born in Sabine County and had lived in the Orange area several years. Survivors: sons, Dewey Chance of Beaumont and Daniel "D.L." Chance of Orange, sisters Abbie WELLHAUSEN of Pearland, Elbie LEWIS of Silsbee, Bernice EXLINE of Vidor; and Lillian MOORE of Deer Park; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Vessie Ray CHANCE; parents, Albert and Emma FERGUSON; sons, Doyle Ray CHANCE and Bryan Kermit CHANCE; brothers, Percy R. FERGUSON and Jence E. Ferguson; and a sister, Wilma Fay MYERS. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Claybar Funeral Home's chapel in Orange with Bro. Jeff Bell officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange County. Claybar Funeral Homes, directors.

Percy R. Ferguson, Sr.
Percy R. Ferguson, Sr, 83, of Jasper died Friday, January 19, 2001.
Ferguson, a native of Brookeland, was a longtime resident of the Jasper area and operated Ferguson Grocery several years. He had also operated a grist mill and was a farmer.
Survivors: a son, Percy Robert Ferguson, Jr. of Vidor; a daughter Mary Kathryn Domec of Jasper; sisters May Bell Chance and Bernice Esline, both of Vidor, Abbie Wellenhouse of Houston, Elbie Lewis of Silsbee, and Lillian Moore of Deer Park; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Jan 22 at the Stringer & Griffen Funeral Home chapel, Jasper. Interment was at Weeks Chapel Cemetery, Newton County.

Elbie Lewis
Elbie Lewis, 84, of Jasper, died at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital July 16, 2007.
She was a native of Brookeland, Texas and a former resident of Lumberton, Orange and Silsbee before moving to Jasper. Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker.
Survivors include: sons John Wesley Lewis, III, of Silsbee and Gerald Lewis of Jasper; daughter, Linda FRAZIER of Jasper, sisters, Abbie WELLHOUSEN of Pearland, Bernece EXLINE of Vidor, and Lillian MOORE of Houston, grandchildren, Lisa SMITH, Jerry Lee LEWIS, Cody LEWIS, Ara LEWIS, Wesley LEWIS, Erica TACKETT, and Alan FRAZIER; three great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Lewis, JR.
Funeral services were Friday, July 20, 2007 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee. Interment followed at Resthaven Cemetery.

Lillian Ferguson Moore
Lillian Ferguson Moore, 85, of Deer Park, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011.
She was born Mary 29, 1926, in Brookeland.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Smith and Jim Moore, two brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her son, Floyd Smith and wife Brenda, daughter Sue Williams and husband Robert; sister, Bernice Exile; grandchildren, Jeannie Ferrington and husband Greg, Georgia Padgitt and husband James, Bryan Smith, Elliott Smith and Matthew Smith; and great-granchildren, Sam, Clay, Hunter and Meredith.
A Celebration of Life was held Friday, Nov. 25, in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, Pasedena, with Bro. Ernest Weedon officiating. Interment followed at Grand View Memorial Park.

Wilma Fay Head
Wilma Fay Ferguson Myers Head, 61, of Vinton, La., died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1995, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.
A longtime resident of the Vinton area, she was a native of Brookeland.
Survivors: husband, Willie D. HEAD of Vinton; sons, Skippy Myers of Iota, La., and Lee Myers of Gueydan, La.; daughter, Fay Myers Istree of Mermentau Cove, La.; a brother, Percy Ferguson of Jasper; sisters, Maybelle Chance of Orange, Abbie Wellenhouse of Pearland, Elbie Lewis of Silsbee, Bernice Bxline of Vidor, and Lillian Cirilo of Deer Park; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Northside Assembly of God in Crowley, La., with interment at LeBlanc Cemetery in Midland, La. Arrangements were handled by Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley.
