    Graveside Service for Joe Beznoska

    Joe Beznoska, 89, longtime resident of the northern part of Cotton County, died in Lawton, Friday, July 27.

    Graveside services were conducted at Walters Cemetery at 2 o'clock Tuesday, July 31, with Don Crow officiating.

    Wyatt Funeral Home was in charge of burial in Walters Cemetery.

    Joe Beznoska was born September 28, 1889 at Morse Bluffs, Nebraska. He was united in marriage with Irene Stewart on August 15, 1917 at Walters.

    He had been a resident of Cotton county for more than 60 years. He was involved in a farming operation unitl his retirement in 1956.

    He was a veteran of World War I and a member of "Arraks No. 1168," composed of World War II veterans.

    Survivors include his wife, Irene, of the home; one son Melvin Beznoska of Lawton; one daughter Mrs. Jolene Marco of Duncan.

    Also one brother, Adolph Beznoska of Lawton; four sisters, Albie Kucera, Lillie Tomasek, Millie Arthur and Agnes Muckendorf, all of North Bend, Nebraska, three grandchildren, one step grandchild, and other relatives.

    Richmond, Calif. - Former Duncan, Okla. resident, DR. DAVID BRYAN MARCO, 46, passed away Friday, February 10, 2006, in Richmond, California.

    Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 13, in Immanuel Baptist Church, Duncan, with the Rev. Buddy Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

    David was born October 14, 1959, in Duncan, to Frank and Jolene Marco.
    He graduated from Duncan High School in 1977. After high school, he worked for Halliburton as a mechanical draftsman. He then attended Oklahoma State University, earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1983. In 1987, he earned his master's degree, also in mechanical engineering, at the University of Texas at Austin.
    David worked from 1987 until 2001 for the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif. In 1996, he obtained his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, with a minor in computer science. David was a major contributor to the detailed mechanical design of the Naval Postgraduate School ARIES autonomous underwater vehicle.

    From 2001 until his death, David was an assistant research engineer at California PATH (Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways), a world-leading institution in Intelligent Transportation Systems with the University of California at Berkeley.

    When he was not working, David loved putting models together and enjoyed woodworking. He especially loved riding his bicyle over the Golden Gate Bridge.

    Survivors include his sister, Janet Adkins of Duncan; three nephews, Michael Adkins of Moore, Okla., and Matthew Adkins and Mason Adkins, both of Edmond, Okla.; and two aunts, Dorothy Farmer of Duncan, and Margie Palmer of Denver, Colo.

    He was preceded in death by his parents.
