  Notes	In a oral history of Leona Herrin Simmons, Published in Newton County Nuggets: A Collection of Stories by Newton County Folk: Newton County Historical Commission Complier: Pauline Hines TEXAS SESQUICENTENNIAL YEAR 1986, It was noted that "As a young girl Leona attended singing school in Bleakwood. Mr. Jim Morgan who taught at Bleakwood school, would also teach singing schools. Mr. Morgan was also to start each day with a morning prayer. He later married Loraine Sellers of Fawil. Mr. Sanford also held singing school in Bleakwood at Watson's Chapel." (page 110).
