He enlisted on 8-14-1862 and was discharged on 6-16-1865, and served in Co H - 87th Ill. Inf. as a Corporal. U S Civil War Draft Registration Records, also on Ancestry.com, showed him as Andrew J. Kuykendall, a 36 year old Farm born in Illinois and living in French Creek at the time of his enlistment.
