Notes |
- Lloyd was very interested in photography and took a lot of pictures. He had an early amateur movie camera. His daughter Pat sent a copy of some of these movies to Lynell Gentry.
His garage in Oklahoma City was full of ham radio equipment and electronics.
His niece, Anna Laura, also reported that he sang and played the guitar beautifully. She remembers him sitting on the porch at sundown, his music entrancing his young nieces and nephews. He was too shy to sing in public however.
The Daily Oklahoman-July 24, 1967 Lloyd Gentry Dies, Rites Are Tuesday Lloyd R. Gentry, 57, of 4605 NW 11th, husband of Mrs. Esther Gentry, cafeteria manager at The Daily Oklahoman and Oklahoman City Times, died Sunday at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Smith & Kernke Funeral Home with burial pending. Gentry was born in Duncan and had lived in Oklahoma City for 25 years. He was an instrument specialist at Tinker Air Force Base and a member of Downtown Baptist Church. He was also music director for Southside Mission. Survivors include, in addition to his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Ann Lawson, of 4108 Nicklas; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Meeks, Duncan, and Mrs. Dera Goodwin, Bell, Calif., and two brothers, Delbert and Elmer, both of Duncan.
(Lloyd's daughter Pat gave her father's birth place as Amber, Grady Co., not Duncan as stated in the obituary.)

- Lynell Gentry Cordell writes that "Zada Trawick's family was also in Wise Co., Texas in 1880. I wonder if John M. and Pamelia could have moved there after the 1880 census and Zada and Ed met and married there in 1890/91. Preacher William, possibly in need of care, his wife having probably died, could have been there around that time also." It is also possible that they married in Oklahoma, her obituary saying she had been a resident of Alma and Duncan since 1889.
