    • When he registered for the draft during the First World War, he was lsited as Jay McClanahan and was living in Hewitt, OK, and working as a Painter. His closest relative was shown as W. P. McClananah, his father. Listed as "widowed" at the time of the 1920 census. He was living with his father and stepmother in Hewitt, Oklahoma, and working in the oil fields. His FindAGrave memorial page, created by Jean, instead lists him as Joy McClanahan, but there is not a photo of the tombstone to verify the spelling. He is shown as sharing a double marker with Kate McClanahan (1902-1998).
