      R.D. King will be remembered as many things. A loving Father to Catherine, Sally, Shelly and Duffy and stepfather to Diana, Carl and Cheryl. A great companion and friend to his brothers, Olen and Elray. A devoted son to his late parents, Pinkey and George. And an inspiration to his many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

      Hr was a World War II veteran and a graduate of Stephen F Austin University. He will be fondly remembered by many in Texas City, Alvin and Santa Fe, Texas as a football & baseball coach, a beloved math teacher and school administrator. He spent his later career with the Texas Department of Corrections as both an educator and an officer.

      In his retirement he loved to travel, fish the lakes of East Texas, garden, cook and contribute commentary to the local newspaper. He was a memeber of the First United Methodist Church of Newton. R.D. was fortunate to find three great loves in his life in his predeceased wives, Mary, Marion and Norma. We want to thank his special friend who in his last days gave his great comfort.

      He will be greatly missed by all.

      R.D. fneral service will be March 19, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Newton at 2pm with buriel at Zion Hill Cemetery in Jasper, Texas. Officiating at his service will be Reverend Joe Miller.

      Pallbearers will be Tommy Daniels, Eddid King, Danny King, Mark Taylor, Jamie Johnson and Carl Schmidt.
