  Notes	Obituary, copied from his Find A Grave memorial page: Mr. Sammy Lee (S.L.) Samples of Maryville, Tennessee, died Friday, May 27, 2011. Mr. Samples was 74 years, 4 months, and 23 days old. He was an ARMY veteran; a former councilman at Alcoa Maryville Church of God, and was attending unity Baptist Church. He was the owner of Blount Appliance Service for over 25 years and he was an avid bicyclist. He was the son of the late Mr. Samples was preceded in death by his parents: Ezekial and Martha Samples; his 1st wife: Clara R. Samples; and 1 sister: Carrie L. Samples. He is survived by his wife: Betty Samples; his children: Becky and David Kirland, Janet and Chris Borden, and David and Lana Samples; his step-children: Larry Ledbetter, Dwayne and Jean Ledbetter, Jeff and Kim Ledbetter and Tammy and Steve Sands; his grandchildren; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a brother andi his wife: Joe and Elsie Samples; other relatives; and many, many dear friends. Funeral service for Mr. Samples was held on Saturday evening (7:00p.m.) at the Smith Chapel. Rev. Barry Crowson and Rev. Fred Cook, officiated the evening service. He was laid to rest on Sunday afternoon at the Vonore Baptist Church Cemetery. His military marker can be seen on Find A Grave as well, and is embossed with a Cross and "S L Samples SPL 4C 7th Army Div Jan 4, 1937"
