      Decatur-Elsie E. (Edgar) Buckmaster, 92 of Decatur, passed away 2:50 am Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Fair Havens Christian Home.

      Elsie was born on January 31, 1919 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Steve and Louise (Stogsdill) Edgar. After her father died, Elsie's mother remarried to Melvin McLemore, and they and her sister, Eileen, lived in Niantic, IL before moving to Decatur. Elsie married William "Glen" Buckmaster on April 10, 1944 in Decatur. Glen preceded her in death September 13, 1996 and Elsie continued living alone until she could no longer care for herself and her home and eventually lived out her life in a nursing facility.

      Elsie was a long time member of West Side Nazarene Church where she served as secretary/treasurer for many years. She and her husband, Glen, also ran Buckmaster Market on Grand Avenue for many years. She and Glen were sincere Christians now reunited with Jesus in Heaven. As dog lovers, any memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Decatur on Martin L. King Street in Decatur.

      Left to cherish her memories are her sister Beverly (McLemore-Botts) Heger of Decatur and her brother Dale (wife - Betty) McLemore of Clinton, IL; nephews Scott (wife ? Cathy) Wilkinson, of Decatur; Grover (wife ? Arlene) Wilkinson of Denver, NC; and great-niece Kathy (husband ? Mike) Taylor of Monrovia, CA. Cousins include Sally Hause, Aiken, SC; Darrell (wife ? Dottie) Deem of Decatur; Kenneth (wife ? Jane) Gordon of Decatur; Virginia Samuel of Clinton, IL; and Pat (husband ? James) Bailey of Decatur. Also, special friends Don and Theresa Couch of Decatur.

      Elsie was reunited in Heaven with her parents, her husband, twin brothers Darrell and Jerrold Edgar who died in infancy, her brother David McLemore and her sister Eileen Wilkinson.

      Visitation for Elsie will be from 6 ? 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Graveside services to celebrate Elsie's life will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 28, 2011 in Graceland Cemetery.
