      Burdett Pulliam, age 99 formerly of San Augustine County, died July 7, 2013 in Jasper at Jasper Nursing & Rehabilitation.

      He was born January 27, 1914 in Sabine County, Texas and graduated from school at Burleson in San Augustine County, Texas. He received his bachelor and master decrees in education form Stephen F. Austin State College. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II. He was a farmer and educator; serving many schools in south east Texas, retiring as the assistant superintendent at Burkeville, Texas in 1974 and returned full time to his catfish and cattle farm in San Augustine County. He was an active member of the Little Flock Missionary Baptist Church and his passion was the maintenance and funding of the Little Flock Cemetery, adjacent to the church.

      He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Iris Ford Pulliam on September 22, 2003. They were married on December 10, 1932, at the Burleson Community in San Augustine County.

      He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Burdett F. and Barbara Pulliam of Jasper; daughter Lee Ann Enos of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren Cindy and David Bozeman, Ross W. and Ann Pulliam, Valerie Kay and Jeff Hicks, Walter and Tracey Enos, Brandon Enos; great grandchildren Brittany and Danielle Bozeman, James and Allan Pulliam, Rachel and Caleb Hicks, Hayne and Katherine Enos; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

      Funeral services will be 2pm Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Little Flock Missionary Baptist Church in San Augustine County.
