      JULY

Nine local Boy Scouts went on a 10-day summer camp near Jacksonville, Texas. They were:
Tom Blount, Hampton Downs, W. H. Fussell, Morgan Harris, Floyd Lucker, Miller Mathews, Charles McMillian and Harold Taylor. These same boys, plus seven more--George Ramsey, Joe Bickley, Philip Cockerham, Wyatt C. Teel, Lawrence Rulfs, Herbert Payne and Luther Morris--had a party at Bland Lake the week before.

His Texas Death Certificate shows that he was a farmer and cattle rancher, along with being a veteran of World War II. The informant was his wife, Tommie Mathews.
