    • Elbert Dale Griffin, 78, of Lufkin, Texas passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at his residence.

      Dale was born July 26, 1938 in Sabine County to Austin Elbert and Annie Arlee Moore Griffin. He was an Army veteran and a retired service supervisor for Reliant Energy. He had resided in Lufkin for 10 years having previously lived in Houston, Texas.

      Dale is survived by his wife, Carol Griffin, of Lufkin, Texas; daughters, Kathryn Griffin of Houston, Texas and Melanie Griffin; brothers, Paul Griffin, of Rosevine, Texas, Jerry Griffin of Hemphill, Texas, Donald Griffin of Rosevine, Texas, and Philip Griffin of Rosevine, Texas; sisters, Freddie Fuller and Glinda Retherford, both of Rosevine; and grandchildren, Alyssa Benzkofer of Houston, Texas, Nikolas Maffei of Houston, Texas, and Vincent Griffin of Austin, Texas.

      He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sammy Griffin and Eddie Dean Griffin and sister, Bobbie Griffin.

      Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with visitation to be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time Sunday.

      Burial will follow service in Gravel Hill Cemetery in Hemphill, Texas.
