Rose was born April 4, 1943 in Rosevine to Henry Enlow Horn and Helen Wright Horn. She worked as a correctional officer for the Texas State Prison. She is survived by her mother, Helen Minnis of Rosevine; son, Victor Sowell and wife, Barbara, of Palestine, Texas; daughter, Teresa Boyett and husband, Kelley, of Hemphill; brother, Larry Horn of Rosevine; grandchildren, Krystle Sowell, James Sowell and fiance, Kayla, Tara Elizondo, Tessa Elizondo and fianc?, Richard Sariamento, Thomas Elizondo and wife, Faith Garmany, and Devin Beard; and great grandchildren, Raina, Zerenity, Benjamin, and Gavin. She was preceded in death by her sons, Steven Sowell, Willie Beard, Jr. and Michael Beard; daughter, Connie Sowell; husband, Estel Sowell; and father, Henry Enlow Horn. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2019 in Holly Grove Baptist Church, FM 705 south of SH 103, in San Augustine County. Burial will follow services in Rosevine Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Kelley Boyett, James Sowell, Thomas Elizondo, David Burkett, Melvin Beard, III, and Sherman Bragg. Online condolences and book signing can be made at starrfuneralhome.com.
