      L.J. Dickerson, 91, died at his home Wednesday night in Pineland, Texas, after an illness. L.J. was born on Dec. 28, 1918, in Sabine County and was a long time resident of Pineland. L.J. retired as a carpenter and was a veteran of World War II.

      He is survived by his wife, Melva Dickerson of Pineland, one son, ElRay Dickerson of Pineland, one step-daughter, Annette Baker of Longview, two brothers, I.B. Dickerson of Burkeville and Billy Mack Dickerson of Pineland, two sisters, Betty Patillo and Barbara Ann Williamson both of Pineland, and one grandchild.

      Visitation will begin at 11:00 am in the Bethel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Pineland, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Friday, May 29, 2009, in the Bethel Chapel Church with burial following in the Bethel Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.
