      Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Beasley of Hemphill were honored with an open house in celebration of their Sixty-Fourth wedding anniversary, on Sunday, September 29, 1968 at their home. Calling hours were 2 to 5 pm.

      Hosting the event were their seven children, assisted by wives and husbands, and grandchildren. They are D. N. Beasley and Weldon Beasley of San Augustine, V. P Beasley of Shreveport, Louisiana, Paul Beasley of Nacogdoches, Harold Beasely of Nederland, Mrs. Mildred Travis of Mauriceville, and Mrs. Lavada Carroll of Pasedena.

      There are 17 grandchildren, 15 great granchildren and two great great grandchildren, most of whom were here for the happy occasion.

      [The couple was] married on October 3, 1904 at Center, Shelby County, Texas by Rev. B. Champiion. They were married in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rainwater. Their attendants were Charlie Strong and Miss Mary Cooper. The young couple lived in Shelby County, then San Augustine County and moved to Sabine County in 1914.
