Although William was no longer living in the orphanage as of the 1900 census, both of his younger sisters were still residents, listed as orphans, as of the 1900 census. Wynema McGrew writes that he married Gertrude Forbes on 15 Feb 1909 in Mobile, Alabama. She was the daughter of William Forbes who was born in St. Andrews, Scotland.
