      Marjorie Okelberry, a former resident of Murtaugh, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, in Orolino, Idaho at the age of 95.

      She is survied by two daughters, Maria Clare (George) Duncan of Orolina and Nada Lynn (Dallas) Rickert of Moscow; and two stepdaughters, Mary Ellen Okelberry of Seaside, Calif., and Soonlee Olson of Murtaugh; six grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, four sisters, two graddaughters and one great-grandson.

      She was born Nov. 10, 1907, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, the daughter of Frank and Clara Robertson Wilcox. She attended the Paul Elementary School, and graduated from the Paul High School in 1925. While attending high school in Paul, Marjorie was an oratorical contest with the presentation of "Dog of Flanders." She was gifted in singing and loved poetry. After her graduation she became a woman of many occupations. She worked for a photographer, became a telephone operator, and managed a root beer stand. She also completed a beauty course in Salt Lake City, Utah, and worked as a beautician in Rupert for several years she attended Bible College in Caldwell.

      Marjorie married Lamar Okelberry July 29, 1942, in Burley, Idaho. They built a log house in Murtaugh and were blessed with two daughters. Later they began a logging business out of the south hills above Oakley. They built several log homes and many potato cellars around Idaho and one in Canada. In 1960 they bought some river front property in King Hill where they raised tall corn, hay and delicious watermelons.

      Marjoried and Lamar were active members in Gideon International organization. Marjorie served in the Gideon Auxiliary through prayer and distribution of New Testaments to nurses in all the hospitals of this area. They attended the Hansen Assembly of God Church. Marjorie shared her singing and oratorical talents there and at many other churches.

      The services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at the Hansen Assembly Church of God Church, 318 Second St. E, Hansen, with Pastor J. Wesley Johnson officiating. A graveside service will take place following the funeral at the Paul Cemetery. Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Payne Mortuary, 221 W. Main St., Burley and from 1 - 1:45 p.m. Monday at the church.

      In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Gideons's International at the church or mortuary.
