- Ben and Lena only lived a few households apart at the time of the 1900 Sabine County census.
In her annotated transcription of the Hemphill City Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary notes that their double marker is inscribed "Our loved ones are gone, but not forgotten.." She further notes that Lena has another marker at foor of D. A. Salter, Jr.. that says: 1892-1949, At Rest.
